Sins Of Night Preview: Harley

Been a while since I last posted an update on the up-coming game! Once again I’ve just been busy juggling the two projects. Things are proceeding nicely behind the scenes though.

The bulk of the work since the last preview was focused on Evelyn. I’ve largely finished her sandbox content (just got a few small things to do) and I tackled the task of her story content. Like you’ve seen in L&V, once you’ve progressed a character enough, you’ll get story events to move things forward.

For Evelyn’s first stage, there’s an intro, a mid stage mixed story event (different variations depending on your route choice) and two separate end story events to cap off each path. I hope it all sounds very familiar! The story content itself consists of about as many renders as the general daily events, so it is a fair time investment.

I also took my first steps into animation. I put together a couple very simple ones for the end story events as part of the learning process. Not the best work, but unfortunately I don’t have a year to throw away on practice! Spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out animating in blender then back porting to daz for rendering, with mixed results. Hopefully this is an aspect I’ll just get better at with time.

Anyway that’s the big recap. I’m shifting now towards main story content, and UI design. The latter in particular is something I hope to finish soonish so I can share it with you and get feedback.

Now onwards to the next character reveal! This one I’m calling Harley (customizable), a younger member of the household and a budding artist.

This is a talent you’ll have the opportunity to shape in the love and lewd paths (called virtue and vice most likely), alongside her other strange preferences… Lot’s of opportunities here for some sandbox fun.

Harley is currently attending art school, and is reliant on the contributions of Evelyn and the MC to pay for it all. Again this is something you’ll have the chance to help out with, or maybe exploit?

When she’s not struggling to hone her talent, Harley can typically be found listening to emo boy bands or exercising her overactive imagination. Fully embracing the cultural influences of the unknown fiends lurking the streets at night, and now her very home.


Hope you like the character design! Now I had originally planned for this one to have her own content stage at release. Unfortunately, I’ve had to push that back to ensure the game’s fundamentals are in place from the get go. She does make a few short appearances, but will be my first priority for subsequent releases. So hopefully it won’t be a long wait to get to know her properly.

Speaking of that, we are closing in on my planned release window. A game like this deserves to be released around Halloween time, which is only a few short months away! Getting everything done in time is going to be a challenge, no doubt necessitating an even bigger time investment.

As we do get closer to release, expect more posts outlining my plans. They’ll have implications for both projects, but I’ll just quickly reassure I plan on giving both the time they deserve. I’ll go into more details as I work it all out :)
