You have 10 of these, one could kill you

PATRONS: This was going to be saturday's video but I decided to add another group of tests and the buying guide as an experiment.  A lot of new climbers may be watching and I want to answer as much as possible in one video and keep it a reasonable length.  By doing this video more thoroughly and not posting last weekend, I was able to get a LOT more lab infrastructure stuff done and really think about how to make full value episodes AND answer every question under the sun.  I got some ideas I'm sitting on that could make this more helpful to everyone and quite a bit more fun for me to do. Thank you for your support 🙏 !

What if I gave you ten quick draws, but told you one wasn't going to hold a fall, and you don't get to know which one?  Would the dirtbag in you still use them?  Many of us have used draws that are over 10 years old and we tested two separate batches where each one had a result lower than the force you may get during a whipper.

I hope to break a bunch over the next year or so and then compiled all that data into a really cool table to compare. I'd take up to 10 draws if you want to send them to add to the data pile. hit me up at ryan@slackline.com and i'll let you know how to send them

BTW, I have some dogbones you can have. all 22Kn. 4 or 5 are some no-name brand that are old (>10 years, but no date). Then I have some 2018 Petzls that I don't use since I am mainly a crusty old Gunks trad climber. LMK if you want them.

Awesome video. It would be great to see a table of breaking strength by age. I had the same concern as Brian Hess. If 10-year-old dogbones are breaking at 5Kn, why not the slings on my cams?
