This really seems like the kind of thing you'd want to just leave for the show to tell, since it does it in a lot of detail. And, you know, for story reasons, doesn't just dump it on your lap at the beginning.

Also, to help you out with what's going on, Marc Spector has Dissociative Identity Disorder (what used to be known as Multiple Personality Disorder). People with D.I.D. develop "alters" (short for alternate personality) and it is typical for alters to have absolutely no knowledge of the other or others, which is why Steven is so clueless about everything going on. Oh and when Marc is wearing the suit he's Moon Knight, but when Steven wears the suit he's Mr. Knight.
