***Early Accesss*** SPOILER REVIEW - GHOSTBUSTERS AFTERLIFE

Comments

I might have to do that, David. I loved this movie because it took me down memory lane. What a delightful experience 💜💜💜

I was not able to physically get to a theater to see this (even though that’s my preferred venue to watch movies), so I had to pre-order the digital edition. It delivered a couple days ago, and I’ve already watched it twice. My feelings for this film very much parallel yours. I laughed, and even shed a tear, and adored Phoebe’s Kid-jokes, (my fave being, “What do a cigarette and a hamster have in common?”). I was just scanning your Patreon to see if you had a watchalong. I now understand why there isn’t one, since you’ve already seen it. But what about an “I Loved It So Much Let’s Watch It Again” Watch-along?

I agree, Patrick. This wasn't an excellent film IMHO, but it did take me back to the original, which I really enjoyed. The 2016 film was such a disappointment to me, that this film was so much better to me - than it probably actually is - on a filmmaking level. Being able to walk down memory lane was what really got me in this film. The 1980's movie had a HUGE impact on me as a kid and I know that's why I was so moved by specific parts of this one 💜💜💜

The original Ghostbusters was one of the only VHS tapes my family owned and I have so many fond memories of that movie in particular growing up in the 80s. I liked Ghostbusters Afterlife better than any of the other sequels, but some of the callbacks to the original movie were way overdone. Like a nice meal with too much seasoning. I won’t get into spoilers here in the comments though. It’s still a good film with enough of its own identity that I enjoyed it and it’s worth a watch for any Ghostbusters fan. Trivia time: Paul Rudd is not the only MCU actor here. IMDB says that Carrie Coons, who played the mom, was the voice of Proxima Midnight, one of Thanos’s Black Order.
