This was honestly the first chapter I felt actual fear for Allie. My heart rate is through the roof. I understand he is the Chosen one for the goddess. The other chapters don't really inspire fear in me. Lust, arousal, sure, because thats part of the reason we read these. But this chapter brought real fear from me; made me really invested. The entire story has been building quite well around this mystery of the Eldritches. The constant building up of Allie, his many tools and weapons in his arsenal have made him a broken character (overpowered), where nothing can really defeat him. Yet the build up of the constant discovery of how the Eldritches are, they exist, spread, etc. had created an amazing plotline that now has Allie facing the greatest threat possible and we, as the reader, recognize he is actually too weak. He isn't this insanely buffed out character that is a god among others, instead he now faces a monster that makes all other Dungeon creatures (that we know of) pale in comparison, including Wren and Allie's own monstrous abilities. Overall, the writing has drastically improved, and the fleshing out of the plotlines has been executed so beautifully that I am enraptured by this chapter, truly on the edge of my seat. I actually yelled out-loud "NO!", when i saw there wasn't another chapter currently. Someone else said "I came for IDH but stayed for Combat Healer", and I relate to that very well. I came for IDH and kept putting off reading Combat Healer. I actually dropped my subbing level because i felt the pace of writing wasn't fast enough because CH was taking too much time up. Having finally read CH, I am floored by the change of pace, writing, and plotlines going on. To have two well thought out series going on at the same time that drastically differ in the pacing and character arching is amazing. Furthermore, the time skips and flash backs at the beginning of each chapter really add to the storylines. I am amazing and really excited for each chapter. Bravo to Kaizer Wolf for making a real Legendary fight. I can not wait to see how it unfolds. Keep up the great work!

Chandler

I hope idh continues for a long time, although I am certainly enjoying Combat healer as well

Robert Crews

I completely agree with this as well - CH is my preference even though I came here for IDH

Salvo

This will probably be an unpopular opinion but I think you should find a pause point in IDH and focus on combat healer. Your chosen pace for IDH makes for intensive and thoughtful storytelling. Almost like a daily soap opera, whereas Combat Healer is more fast paced and allows for time skips which advances the plot more quickly. I'm a fan of both, I came to your patreon for idh, but I've stayed for combat healer. It's the better paced, more balanced story. Please don't consider this an attack on you or your writing style...just a fab giving their honest opinion.

Papa Joe

Very intense I can't wait to see his escape

Robert Crews

Can’t say if it’s good or bad, more like just as your getting used to one section of a course, then the rhythm changes entirely which throws a person off their game, only by reading further will I be able to decide if it’s good or bad. Best thing I can come up with. It’s also one of the things that keeps me interested in any kind of story whether good or bad.

Pedro Comenda

I just thought with her being a hybrid she would have the ability to adapt to her skills faster than normal. I guess I was overestimating her current abilities. I mean is the dungeon the home of those monsters? And he is being sent to take them out... To improve his skills... I wonder what else happened when he was sleeping and Wren had to guard him...

J Bone

Lol, sorry! Normally I warn you guys about cliffhangers, but for some reason I didn't really perceive that one as being a cliffhanger (not sure why).

Author Kaizer Wolf

Lol, is that a good thing or bad thing? (that you can't describe what you want to say) And yes, Holy Ground will get explained in the next chapter. It's a fairly straightforward skill, even if very unique, so you probably won't be surprised.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Thank you!

Author Kaizer Wolf

Love the questions, because it helps me know what I need to address in upcoming chapters/plot.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Any time I can make someone feel emotion, I view it as a huge win, so it makes me super happy to hear that. I accomplished my goal, lol.

Author Kaizer Wolf

I'm so looking forward to what I have planned (because I think it's going to really surprise everyone). Also, you may be underestimating just how fast and lethal the enemy is (which may imply that I need to somehow better communicate it in the story itself). At her current level, she could handle the average human fighter, but she'd easily be defeated by someone like Jackel, and she'd also easily be defeated by a 'typical' Lesser Eldritch disguised as a person. She's currently far away from being at a level where she could fight as the MC's equal in battle. One short training session isn't enough to make up that difference in power. As it currently stands, only those who have been at it for a while, such as Mel, Val, Eliza, Sylvia, etc. could stand as the MC's equal in battle (as well as Wren, of course).

Author Kaizer Wolf

Seems like someone or something sent him into that dungeon to take him out for good. And I thought he spent all that time training her so she could help him in battle. Then when he needs her she clams up... I thought we would see her go off.

J Bone

He might be thinking in terms of D&D, where cursed weapons 'have their own agency,' (often to the detriment of the user) similar to this situation with Legendary Artifacts that choose their owner. That being said, I would agree that I don't think I've directly indicated that the weapon is actually cursed in any way.

Author Kaizer Wolf

That was a really cool chapter, but I'm honestly not sure if I should be impressed or pissed at that cliffhanger. Like, fuck Dude! Its gonna feel like freaking forever until the next chapter drops! Lol. Love it, man. This is the best thing I've read in quite a while, keep up the good work, KW.

Jonathan Depenau

I see no evidence the weapon is cursed.

Jonathan Depenau

Damn that chapter was hype!

SovietDegendays

I assume you’ll explain holy ground in the next chapter though I think I already have a feeling I know what it entails.

Pedro Comenda

Read and reread the chapter 5 times already, still can’t describe what I want to say.

Pedro Comenda

Seems Like the goddess has selected her champion to cleanse the land for her, as far as the princess goes it looks like possibly with Wrens help she will have to merge with the cursed weapon to proceed further.

Philip Boivin

KW love the path you are taking us on CH! Appreciate all the hard work and dedication it takes to not only continue to give us chapters on two great stories, but give them to us a day early each week!

Keepit simple

This chapter certainly opened up a whole slew of new questions about the story. Just how are the Greater Eldritches getting to the main world? Who is this mysterious goddess, and why hasn't she done more to protect the people of the lands? It seems like essence monsters have a connection to the Eldritches? If the dungeon engulfings are indeed directed by by an intelligent hand, who is it? The Eldritch possessing Lord Grimaldi? Something else higher up the food chain? For a chapter where I was modestly anticipating an answer to the mystery of Erica's legendary item, we got tons more mysteries than answers 😝

Christopher Miller

I would write faster if I could, but it takes 20+ hours to plot, write, and edit these chapters. Sometimes as much as 30-40 hours, and trying to do even just one more chapter inevitably leads to rapid burnout. Sometimes I really struggle to even keep up with one chapter per week. I have kept up with it for over 2 years now, but there are some weeks and months where it's almost impossible and I run myself ragged trying to meet my deadline.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Well at some point I am assuming that Wren is going to “hit the deck” and be really useful but I don’t know how many weeks I will have to wait before that happens.

Barry Andrew

You keep managing to raise the stakes in reasonable ways and then giving a good payoff. I feel like this has a similar progression in terms of small to large scale as "That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime" and it is great

FEEDBACK: Was this an intense one for you? Or did you not feel worried? I get very into my books, and this chapter had me weeping like Blake. Since this series didn’t seem anywhere near ending, I knew the mc would survive somehow. Thoughts on the situation with the princess? I’m curious as to how they are tracking the princess, but I’m sure that will come out sooner or later. Does the object/weapon/whatever realize that it is being used to to track its Chosen for the purpose of extermination? If so, once it actually ‘connects’ with a Chosen (the princess?) is it going to exact some sort of revenge? These are my thoughts and I cannot wait to find out the answers in future chapters. What are you expecting to happen in either situation? (with the princess or with the MC) Honestly, Jackal and Wren will somehow save the princess and the mc and Blake will exit the dungeon either back in the castle, near the the princess, or somewhere else. It’ll be a wild ride and I’m loving this series.
