I had such a great time watching their reactions! I did skip season 7 and 8 for obvious reasons. I just can't watch those anymore... However, HotD is definitely a return back to form, and I can't wait to see what they think of it. For me, it was like watching peak Game of Thrones again.

I saw someone say it’s the brand version of wish?? Yea well they didn’t watch the whole series. The music, the acting, the set designs were all incredible in this first season. I believe it was perfectly set up for season 2. Remember what Queen Aemma said in the first 5 mins of the show “our birthing bed is our battlefield”. Keep that in mind. LFG!! Oh and daemons dragon Caraxes is also called the Blood Wyrm. He’s kind of deformed but he is a BADASS. My fav dragon

I really don't know why so many of y'all insist on doing this shit. I am here PAYING to watch them DISCOVER this world, not to watch you spoonfeed it to them. For example, you are out here naming or explaining characters that haven't even been introduced yet or that were just in the background. The joy of watching reactions is seeing them figure out who matters, who doesn't, etc. I am so beyond sick of y'all ruining shit for everyone.

2024-06-15 13:24:27 +0000 UTCI’ll break it down as much as I can for you but it’s a lot. This is set at the HEIGHT of Targaryen power. This is them in a long time of peace (70 years by episode 2) which is pretty impressive. At the beginning we see Jaehaerys (the Old King) who had 13 children, the eldest Prince Aemon (Rhaenys’ dad) died and everyone expected Rhaenys as his only child to be by default his heir. However instead he named his second eldest son Baelon (Viserys & Daemon’s dad) his heir instead. That’s the first crack between House Velaryon and House Targaryen. When Baelon dies and all of Jaehaerys’ other kids are either sworn elsewhere or have died he has no choice but to go to his grandchildren which again brings up the Rhaenys v Viserys at the beginning. Rhaenys is the only daughter of the eldest son, Viserys is the eldest son of the SECOND son. When Viserys is named heir that’s the second crack between House Velaryon and House Targaryen. Then the whole Laena thing at the end of episode 2 is the third crack but don’t need to break that down. At this point, House Velaryon are the richest house in Westeros. They’re richer than the Lannister’s and they’re closely tied to the crown due to marriage and the fact they’re one of three remaining Valyrian House’s (the other one has not been named yet as per ep 2). House Velaryon and House Hightower do still exist but they were cut from the main show. Margaery and Loras’ mother is Alerie Hightower. Characters to take note of: Viserys (King) Aemma Arryn (Queen + Viserys’ first cousin as her mother is Aemon and Baelon’s sister) Rhaenyra (Viserys and Aemma’s daughter) Daemon (Viserys’ brother) Rhaenys (Viserys, Daemon, and Aemma’s first cousin) Corlys Velaryon (Rhaenys’ husband and Master of Ships) Laena Velaryon (Rhaenys + Corlys’ daughter) Laenor Velaryon (Rhaenys + Corlys’ son) Otto Hightower (Hand of the King and younger brother to the Lord of Oldtown) Alicent Hightower (Otto’s daughter) Harrold Westerling (Lord Commander) Lymon Beesbury (Master of Coin) Lyonel Strong (Master of Laws) Grand Maester Mellos Mysaria (Daemon’s lover) Boremund Baratheon (in books he’s Rhaenys’ uncle but in the show he’s her first cousin- her mother was a Baratheon) Criston Cole (Kingsguard named by Rhaenyra) Dragons & riders (not all have been named yet but their riders have so adding those in too): Balerion (dead) - Viserys Syrax - Rhaenyra Caraxes - Daemon Meleys - Rhaenys Seasmoke - Laenor Vhagar - No rider Dreamfyre- No rider There are many others but they either weren’t name dropped in the first two eps nor their riders so not spoiling that. There’s three distinct dragon breeds: T-rex, Canine, and Horse. This is mostly determined by their head shapes. Daenerys’ for example are ALL T-rex, Syrax is horse, and Caraxes is canine. Caraxes is confirmed to be an anomaly from a birth defect and somehow survived into adulthood. He was designed to have a ridiculous squeaky sounding roar because he has a highly deviated septum (confirmed by show writers). None of the dragons will look the same, they’re all very distinct from one another. The shipping lane thing might solely come across as Corlys being annoyed, but he does make a good point. If you look at a map of where Dragonstone/Driftmark/Kings Landing are, they’re all above the Stepstones. If the Stepstones are seized this means there is NO TRADE coming into the largest ports. That can be food, luxuries, men, and who knows what else. This can very easily lead to a massive economic crash of not just the Lord’s of these areas, but Westeros as a whole. The statue Viserys is carving is a scaled down version of the city of Valyria which was the capital of the Valyrian Freehold. Hardly anything is known of the city itself as when the Doom occurred there were very very few survivors. He’s building it after studying books from either before the Doom detailing the city, or memoirs of some form of those who did survive. The Doom occurs 100 years before Aegon conquers Westeros so it’s been a little over 200 years since then. In this they speak solely High Valyrian (which isn’t what Daenerys/Grey Worm etc speak often in GoT- they mostly speak Astapori Valyrian or Meereenese Valyrian which are branches of High Valyrian).

Every family member has a sigil and when they’re dead the sigil floods. Like the GOT one it changes to reflect what person or family the episode focuses on if new people are added the tree is updated with new sigils. :)

He would have died had Visenya not saved him (do you remember Arya mentioning Visenya to Tywin? Visenya is basically a hero to all the girl bosses in Westeros). So yes, having competent fighters in the kingsguard is important.

He's the first born son of house Velaryon, which he single handedly made the richest house in the realm (George RR Martin has confirmed that HBO is developing a spinoff on young Corlys specifically). And as a side note, before house Velaryon was the richest in the realm, that position was occupied by house Hightower, and so Corlys is a self made man who represents new money, whereas Otto and his family represent old money. Not too long ago they were the biggest game in town. But back to Corlys: when he said "we are the realm's second sons" he meant it metaphorically when it came to him, specifically, but Daemon is a literal second son, as is Otto (in episode 1 Daemon called him "a second son that stands to inherit nothing he doesn't seize for himself" and that was a case of like recognizing like. This story is more driven by second sons that GOT and you're going to meet a lot more of them. As for the Hightowers and Velaryons, they both exist in the GOT timeline but the Velaryons weren't in the show whereas you did see Gerold Hightower in one scene though he wasn't named (season 6, flashback of Ned's fight with Ser Arthur Dayne. The other king'sguard who was killed quickly by Ned in the fight was Gerold Hightower as we know from the books that he was there alongside Ser Arthur Dayne to protect Lyanna).

The other two important one's is the first one, Aegon the conquer and the other one is jaeherys, who had 13 children, So you see the split and stream of running blood. Also its the kings model of old Valeria.

He and his Queen did several good things for the realm including building roads, making laws supporting women and children. Jaehaerys was the best king to rule. Viserys is just continuing that peace. But if you take the Targaryen kings after the story of House of the dragon till the mad king, there are several great Targaryen kings in between. Only few were crazy and cruel.

First one shows the conqueror's crown with the scene of doom of Valyria representing Aegon the conqueror. The symbol then fills with blood because he is dead. Those symbols that doesn't fill up with blood indicates that person is alive. Blood then flows to Aegon's sister wives Rhaenys and Visenya. Visenya's line ends with Maegor. Rhaenys' line goes to Aenys and then to Jaehaerys (old king from the beginning of episode 1) and Alysanne. Then blood channels to several of their children. Out of which we see Baelon and Alyssa (parents of Viserys and Daemon) and Aemon Targaryen and Jocelyn Baratheon (parents of Rhaenys the queen who never was). Alyssa and Baelon's line then flows to Viserys and Daemon. Viserys and Aemma Arryn's line flows to Rhaenyra. Her symbol is that locket of valyrian steel necklace that Daemon gifted her in episode 1. Daemon's symbol is his dragon wing helmet. Viserys' symbol is his crown. Aemma Arryn's symbol fills with blood because she died in episode 1. Finally blood runs into the fire pit under Targaryen sigil. Fire and Blood. If you watch the intro of each episode you will see it updating according to new people being born and dead.

When the two factions are set, some viewers take one side and some viewers take the other side. for me, personally, i side with one faction much more and can't understand why people would take the other side but they do and that makes this series so much fun.

In the books House Velaryon is active but they never showed it in The series. While for house Hightower, That is the House that rules over the oldtown where sam and gilly went to become maester. Also Margaery's Mother is House Hightower. So these houses are still existing in Game of thrones but not very active in the story just like you will see some prominent houses from GoT were not very active in this era.

2024-06-14 06:52:48 +0000 UTCLoved the reaction! You guys did a great job. it’s a lot to take in at first. The Velaryons (ships family) and the Hightowers were in the books related to GOT. Martin said he didn’t include them in the GOT show because it was too many families already. But At one point in the show, Jamie mentions that King Aerys hand was Gerold Hightower. In the books the Velaryons fought in support of Stannis at the battle of the black water on ships and at the mud gate. They supported Stannis over Joffrey. The prophecy coming from a dream Aegon the conqueror had is a great tie in to GOT. You may have recognized Arya’s dagger the King had. Why Rhaenys was able to speak directly to the King when he met with her and Corlys is because she is a Targaryen. She is the eldest out of the old king’s grandchildren. So she does get more respect from Viserys than other women who aren’t related to him would. Matt Smith who plays Dameon was friends with Emilia Clarke before these shows started. They have hung out a lot together once he got the part. They are close friends in real life. It’s funny to see pictures of them together. They always look like they are having so much fun. This show moves over a 20 year time period in one season. It keeps the story moving but doesn’t rush it like GOT did at the end.

Traditionally the Targaryens place dragon eggs in the cradle of Targaryen prince's and princesses, in the hope that this will help bond the royal babe's to dragons. But sometimes the eggs never hatch and sometimes the baby dies. At that point they are kept until they can be passed to a different baby. The eggs are too valuable for them to ever intentionally destroy the eggs. Daemon would typically be granted an egg to place in the cradle of his babe, but the problem was he stole one without permission to allegedly place into the cradle of a bastard from a whore. This would be seen by the Targaryens as treasonous, as dragons are reserved for royalty. Of course, Daemon was lying about the entire thing to get the attention of his brother, since apparently taking Dragonstone wasn't enough to get his brother to come see him. lol

The Old King Jaehaerys that they showed in the intro of the first episode ruled for 60 years and most of it was peaceful. Most of the stuff we see in Game of Thrones, like the kings road, for example, was built during the reign of these specific Kings.

2024-06-14 01:24:22 +0000 UTCI've seen alot of people react who think Viserys wants an heir so badly he allows them to cut Aemma to get the baby. I don't believe that's true. The Maester gave Viserys the choice to lose one or both because delivering a breech baby is almost impossible naturally. This is a time before educated c-sections and they'd tried to turn the baby unsuccessfully. Babies who are born breech naturally rarely survive without severe complications and the mother almost never does. They avoid them at all costs if possible nowadays. Viserys had to choose....cut her open to get the baby in which she dies and the baby survives.....or leave the baby in and they both die. "Sacrafice one or lose them both." (I only know this because I've been an OB nurse for 25 years) Also, it never says why the baby passes, but I think it's because they didn't know suctioning after c-section is a must. Babies born naturally expell mucus and fluid from their respiratory tract when they go through the birth canal....c-section babies can't so it has to be done for them. It's such a sad choice for anyone to make. Luckily, it's rare these days with modern medicine. Thanks for putting these out so quick! Great reaction as always! Love ya'll!

They are culturally distinct from the rest (moreso than the North is from the rest), were the only kingdom to successfully resist the Targaryen conquests, and only joined the Seven Kingdoms by marriage of their own volition. And I think most would probably agree that Oberyn Martell was the coolest character of GOT - which given the enormous cast of characters, is something! So, embrace the Dornishness! Lol

I felt like I was watching the WISH remake version of GOT directed by Gary Busey. I am only gonna try to watch it now because I love you guys so much, I feel like y'all will make it fun for me.
