I'm sure Ray had his feelings hurt quite a bit by what Red said. About how Red thought he might cause the apocalypse. And how Red basically thanked him for not killing him, at least that's how Ray interpreted it. He's trying to make sure Red knows he's safe.
Have you noticed that Ray learned to grab gently enough, so he didn't break every bone in Red's body?
And Red is so invested in their conversation he didn't even think about protesting or scolding him for it yet.

Muffin and Lyon are following the footprints of this horrible mythical monster, meanwhile trying to find Red, the fairy. There is a possibility that the monster already got Red, and ate him! We might never know what has happened but for now, the two friends are cautiously optimistic that the young scout will be found alive and well, however tiny the chance might be.

Ray was a bit too agressive because of his hunger. The goblins did try to take his food away as far as he understood. Did he get what he deserved?
You might notice there's a language barrier here. Ray actually doesn't speak English. The only reason Red ( and by extention, the audience) can understand him, is because Red is a fairy, so he does have the ability to emphathize and understand a wide variety of creatures, including most animals ( excluding insects...
