Game of Thrones Histories & Lore Season 1

I really wish we were able to watch this before we finished the season bc it helped understand the backstory in this awesome show so well!

We loved this thanks for suggesting it!

Dorne is more similar to Morocco Spain and Portugal.

Hey guys for some reason the vimeo link isn't working?

Mary Higgins

The "Last Frontier" is the word you're looking for. Within Westeros, that would actually be the "Land of Always Winter", and there are likely other unexplored continents, but in the context of GOT and Kingdoms up for grabs in the Realm, Dorne could be seen as the "Last Frontier"

New member here, loved your MCU dive, and I hope you realize you need to do old and new MCU series too, since they merge into the movies post Endgame. As far as GOT, it really is a complex story, and FWIW Martin dipped into the LOTR and Dune lore to craft this story, not that this is bad. But now that you think you know the history of GOT, I will plant a small seed for you to consider, not a spoiler, just something to think about. History is not always what it seems, and you should not trust it. To me, the best WTF moment in the series is when a hidden part of this history is revealed, but don't look for it anytime soon., you have a few seasons to go before the big reveal. Enjoy, the roller coaster has just left the station and you ain't seen nothing yet.

Let’s Go. Ur on it bro😎

Jus watch GoT every day ! Than no complaints! Ha !

'Tis an honor to support the noble House of October. Long may you prosper and grow. I can see how useful these histories are to the show. I wish they were around when I first watched it. I had to plow through all the books to aid my understanding. You may not be aware that Tolkien also had a vast back story to his seminal works called "The Silmarillion", along with other tales and appendices that reach back to the very creation of the world Middle Earth is a part of. This was quite entertaining. 💛

Jim Schmitz

the best part of this was definitely his voiceovers omg! lol

Mr. October

yes we are realizing how important he is quickly

Mr. October

so glad you guys are including these

Tywin Lannister knows that there is more power and control being a king-maker instead of being a king who has threats to his power every day. That's why he and Jaime never took the throne. Tywin can control the kingdom and its politics without having to waste time with the pomp and circumstance.

The age of heroes was like 10000 years before now and aegon the conqueror invaded Westeros about 300 years before the show so it’s very different time periods. House of the dragon takes place between aegons conquest and game of thrones, about 170 years before game of thrones but very much in the height of the Targaryen reign.

Christian

Great reaction. The first time I watched GOT I was unaware of the Histories & Lore. They open up so much more of an understanding to each season. You guys are such a cute couple & great reactors. Will be with you on this entire journey!

Erin Renee

It’s so interesting seeing which reactors make which connections. Y’all really are doing a great job! You put together some thoughts that I have yet to see from other reactors but have been waiting for someone to.

Katie Thomas

I love how much the both of you enjoyed this! It definitely makes the entire show a lot more interesting knowing these epic back stories. I think it’s better that you watched it after Season 1. You guys understood everything very easily because you know all the characters and you’ve heard bits and pieces of all these stories already. Also regarding the seasons - you are correct, seasons can last for years in this world. There is no set pattern to it, it’s unpredictable. They pray that Winter will be short every time it arrives. The Long Night refers to a winter season that lasted an entire generation. The White Walkers almost conquered all of Westeros during that time. By the end of Season 1, the longest summer in recorded history has just ended, lasting over 10 years. The term “sweet summer child” refers to kids born during summer who have never seen Winter before, and have not experienced real hardship.

You guys are awesome. Watching you realize things and connecting all the dots together is great. You obviously have great chemistry together and are a cute sweet couple. It reminds me of my husband and I when we watched all of this. I'm so excited for what's to come!

Jessica Houser

The actor for Robert Baratheon looks nothing like he’s described in the books (6’6 300lbs of pure muscle), but he portrays the viking warrior energy of Robert so well that everybody let it slide and his audio for these Histories is a great example of that. “3 battles in 1 day, 7 hells! What a glorious day that was.” lol he wanted to throw hands everyday

TC24

Dorn is a kingdom in Westeros, all the way to the south. Much, much farther south than Kings Landing.

Crissi

I get what you mean about King Joffrey being a great character. People get like a visceral reaction to his acting so he really is great in that way. The cast in this series is so incredible and it just keeps getting better with new characters. You're gonna be hyped when you see some of them pop up.

Sir_Dalagad

You should be able to upload the whole thing to youtube, it's not copyrighted, most other channels don't have an issue with it

Josh Ashford

Remember the name Elia Martell and what happened to her and her children when the Lannisters sacked Kings Landing. She was the princess of prince Rheagar Targaryen and had children together. That’s why it was such a conflict when he left her for Ned’s sister.

Gnarlybudz

The Lord Commander is named Jeor Mormont (son is Jorah Mormont). He’s not a Targaryen. Maester Aemon is a Targaryen. I think you got the two of them mixed up.

Sivan

Also, you guys are so cute together. I love the uncut intro.

Sivan

I think Dorne is like Persia. Dorne still exists, by the way. Couldn’t tell if you thought it didn’t. You’ll hear references to “Dornish wine” quite a bit. Osha is a wildling. She’s from beyond the wall.
