I just wanted to send out this brief message to give everyone an overview as to what's happening in November regarding Apple's decision to become The Ted Empire.

Here's What's Happening:

Starting in November, Apple is going to start jacking up the prices 30% on all NEW SUBSCRIPTIONS through the Patreon iOS app.

It's an unfortunate move and one that we really hate, but as of right now Patreon still offers y'all the best subscriber experience out there so we want to try and make it work.

So, first and foremost, if you are currently a subscriber, the price for your Patreon subscription DOES NOT CHANGE AT ALL, okay?

All of this news about Apple concerns new subscriptions in November 2024 going forward.

It has nothing to do with pre-existing subscriptions.

That's the most important thing.

The second thing is, if you are considering subscribing there's a very easy way to avoid this surcharge from Apple, which is: don't sign up using the iOS app, use a web browser.

If you're thinking about subscribing, bless you, we love you.

If you decide to subscribe, don't go through the app, go through any web browser. Even the web browser on your phone.

Just go to patreon.com/midnightburger on any web browser, go through the entire signup process on that web browser, and then when you're done with the signup process, you can go back to the app and log in and you'll have the entire Patreon experience available to you.

We're very sorry about this really annoying inconvenience.

The third thing is, if you are an Android or anything other than Apple user:

Enjoy your day.

This is a really unfortunate thing for all of us.

We're very upset that Apple has decided to make independent producers lives even harder, but this is the world we're living in.

Apple does not add 30% of value to our show, the only reason why they're doing this is because they can and no one can stop them. I mean, that's not true, someone could stop them but god forbid we regulate a tech company in America.

It's upsetting, but in the end, we're living in the kind of world where there's not much that can be done about it other than avoiding it by signing up through a web browser.

We will, of course, have reminders on our page going forward to make sure people know to sign up on a web browser, but I just wanted to put this out to everyone on our Patreon right now, all of the free people, all of the paid people .

This is, sadly, how it's working from here on out.

After this month, go through a web browser and the price will be the same.

If you sign up through iOS, it will be 30% more, which is Ted-Empire-level nonsense.

Big Sigh.
