Well, this will be a big update.

First of all, thank you all for being patrons, you have no idea how much it helps when I find myself uploading so little. Adsense can be rather cruel but creators like myself will survive through Patreon each month and when the 15 hour monster finally comes. Hopefully Adsense will lend a hand.

Anyway!

The past 2 weeks have been about watching some movies, playing some games, doing some streams and of course, a lot of editing.

I saw Mission Impossible: Fallout and I was pleasantly surprised, I mean, my goodness. You get some really great performances out of everyone in the movie, including somehow, Ving Rhames. Like there's a scene where he tries to share that he has a huge fault in how everything is falling apart and I genuinely felt for his character watching it.

That's outside of Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise pulling us through the plot which by the way, was very simple yet complicated by the involvement of factions. You get MI6, the MIF and the CIA all on the hunt for plutonium with 3 bad guy factions too, I think? haha.

The action and soundtrack were utterly brilliant, set ups, betrayals and payoffs. There was a lot of game changing elements, like the protagonist facing extremely difficult morality choices and the villain questioning why it is he does all of this in the first place. it's not flawless or anything but I really liked it.

To make sure I don't fill up this whole update with media, il speed it up a bit. I saw a lot of movies I missed from 2018 and its both better and worse again, so much bad and just a few good from what I could tell. I also got to play the new Call of C'thulu game and my god that was bad.

I saw GGGManlives make a review of it and its just so skin deep and lame, like in the same way that his SOMA review was, only this time he just doesn't talk about anything with any depth beyond a label and it makes the game seem so much better than it is.

I got a serious bug to make a Resident Evil 7 type review of the game but man, i'm too busy with this new project! Which i'm getting too, I swear!.

So, I don't know if you guys heard but Joseph Anderson finally made that video about how Horror games do not scare him and he explained the fault within horror games that needs to be fixed in order for him to be scared? It's an utterly bizarre video but we had a great EFAP podcast with it.

Chaseface, Alex and MetalCommander got to come on as Wolf and Rags were unavailable and I think they made a great set of additions. loads of chemistry and discussion on genre etc. thanks to Joseph's video.

The interesting part is that I got to invite him to EFAP on Twitter and he actually responded. He has been told by his fan base that I threw insults at him and thus, I do not have the privilege of having him guest on my show.

I explained that I was sorry for his reaction but not the action itself, it was a joke and if its taken seriously, that's on the viewer. It is unbelievably obvious i'm using words that imply i'm messing around and I apologise in the video if its too much for people.

But Joseph hasn't actually seen them, he's just going off what he's heard, which I found to be baffling and concluded that he just doesn't want to explore this issue live. As empirical as ever Joe-joe.

I know so many people who we're frustrated that I dropped the grilling critics parts in my videos but this reaction from him is precisely why. They use it to escape live criticism.

Anderson has been grilled harder in his comments section than I have ever seen for such a positively rated video. Every comment is;

"I like the video BUT" "I appreciate your opinion BUT" "I like you Joe, BUT"

And then essays follow.

Ultimately it's no loss, the world keeps on spinning, I feel like he could have helped himself by getting clarity on a live broadcast but it's his choice not to. Honestly I love how well EFAP is doing and we have loads of guests lined up. With previous guests set to jump on too.

But yeah, lots going on this past 2 weeks, though I have basically filled every other moment with editing.

*I would now like you to look at the picture above as I explain it*

This is my TFA Critique video timeline, this is a 2 hour stretch of time and the total count for part 1 right now is at 2 hours 35 minutes.

Lane 1 is the video for the primary footage.

Lane 2 is the audio for said primary footage.

Lane 3 is my commentary.

Lane 4 is the soundtrack.

Lane 5 is bonus sound effects.

Lanes 6 and up are secondary and tertiary visuals that I need.

The first arrow running across represents the introduction, clocking in around 58+ minutes and covers everything I mentioned in the last few updates. The you get the first YouTuber guest spot which is Caddicarus.

I basically have this neat little artsy reference to VHS, being that a lot of us re-ran the originals and even the prequels with that fun old tech. After that you get the next hour being all about that wonderful title crawl. Yes, I just said that.

Then it's Fringy with his guest spot and the ending half hour is talking about the opening scene for the film. Like I said this thing is filled with tangents about writing and meta subjects so its not just me droning on about one word for 15 hours ;)

Also, sorting out the soundtrack has been a lot tougher this time, I got access to every track across every film in the saga. I placed them all in prep and I try to listen to each one, finding what fits the tone of the video at the time.

After that there is so much balancing to take care of. Like, these songs just randomly blast you  of are whisper quiet and I have to d a lot of fiddling to make it work but again, I really think it is working.

But hopefully this makes it easier to understand, when its this zoomed out, there's so many clips that its crushed. This will absolutely be the biggest and most difficult project I have completed and I should have anticipated that it would take forever but I mean, there's literally a new visual at every 9 seconds AT MOST.

This thing is tiring and man, when I finish part one, which shouldn't be long, I gotta do the whole process again another 5 times before I hit the finish line. But it really is motivating to look back at this 2 hours and see something that I feel pride for, really looking forward to you guys seeing it.

See yah next update folks! o/

Well, this will be a big update.

Comments

I'm really excited for this series and it looks like you've made great progress. The part about covering the title crawl for an hour has me very intrigued.

It sucks that people like Joseph Anderson are too lazy to actually look up and verify the content. Thanks for the update.
