2018-05-11 21:50:28 +0000 UTCIt has two functions: 1: alcohol is very expencive in bars/pubs- so drinking before hitting the bars is economical. 2: it's å social thing: drikking and having fun with your friends... And if you are under age (18 in Norway) - you can't drink in bars anyway.

I live in the states and we did this in college. drink at someones house before going out because drinks were too expensive in bars.

2018-05-11 05:56:15 +0000 UTCTo answer Nat’a question, In Norway it s quite common for people to gather at somebody’ house to drink before they hit the town. Thus comes the term ‘vors’ or pre-party. I think it maybe something to do with the hight cost of drinks in the bars/pubs in Oslo.
