Could be an NDE (MT PT RT UT) technician, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), NACE coatings inspector, shop QC manager, or Supplier Quality for an engineering company. Our Supplier Quality guys at my work review WPS/PQR of various complexities, manage inspectors, plan the inspections, and work with engineering. This is for pipe, vessels, boilers, etc. People with real welding experience often have a leg up and are valuable. If you don't know broad welding or metallurgy, add a bit of that knowledge and I think there's some real opportunities out there (depending on your area....if you need a new location, Tulsa or Texas are hot spots).
