Truffle's Day { Recap 1-8 }
Added 2021-06-12 13:00:02 +0000 UTC
You find yourself in a clearing covered in a dense mist. The dew rolls off your cheek as you stagger upright and look around.

You first look to your left, towards the woods. Deep in the woods, deep in the mist, a faint red light emanates.

You then look to your right. It's a house. Your house, in fact.
But from within, another faint red light emanates.

And then you wake up. Someone is calling your name.

That's your name.

You give the plant a friendly Good Morning!

You take a look at the mirror. Wait, mirror? No, this is a framed photograph of someone standing in complete darkness. You've forgotten who this was a photo of. As you look into it, you can't help but feel their presence.

You reassure YOUR FRIEND AT THE DOOR that you'll get to them shortly.

Then you hop your way over to the LOCKBOX.

The LOCKBOX isn't actually locked. That little metal lock bit is just there for decoration, and as a symbol of privacy so that nobody goes snooping through it. Inside is a jumble of personal trinkets and possessions, most notably including ...

... both the inside and outside handle of your doorknob. You'll most certainly need to take these to get out of your room. Why did you put these in here again? You might want to take a moment to try to remember. Memory, to put it lightly, isn't your strong suit.
Or you might instead take that moment to look at any of the other objects in this chest. You probably shouldn't take more than a moment though -- after all, it'd be rude to keep your FRIEND waiting.

You try your very best to remember why you removed the doorknobs last night. And as you do, a singular shaky image floats to the forefront of your mind.

As you come out of that memory, you are dizzy. It was as if the memory itself was spinning. It is a ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐. You feel like if you remember any more of it, you'll get even dizzier.

You decide, for some reason, that the window is the way you'll get out of this room. Maybe it's one of your flights of forest critter whimsy that motivated this decision.

Your friend SHOM is taken aback by your unconventional exit.

"H-hey, I remember you said you maybe wanted to... come mushroom-and-berry-picking with me. I'm going now. Wanna come?"

"I understand if you can't. I know MIA needed some help IN THE HOUSE today too. But you said you wanted to, so I-I just figured I'd ask."

Time to choose.

Hold on. You seem to be REMEMBERING something. MIA has told you about what she's doing today, and even invited you to come along.

MIA is about to explore the CELLAR of your humble little critter hovel. The CELLAR is quite deep -- as such, it hasn't been fully explored yet. That is what MIA has decided to do today.

Oh well! You can still join her if you want, but then you can't join SHOM on his venture into the WOODS.

Let's tally your votes!

Seems like SHOM is taking an early lead...

... Only to be beaten out by MIA!!

Looks like you'll be joining MIA for some CELLAR adventures~
You descent the staircase and enter the first room of the CELLAR.

From the path to the RIGHT you hear feel a very faint warmth, and hear a very faint chorus of noise. It sounds like a combination of the clicks of weathered steam pipes and thousands of screams of anguish in the far, far distance.
From the path to the LEFT you hear nothing. Less than nothing. It is as if it is swallowing noise, swallowing light, swallowing existence itself.
Before you are a few BOXES, and in the BOXES are a few ITEMS.

A decrepit old paper-mache BEAR HELMET that has certainly seen better days.

A CANDLE with matches.

And lastly, a PRISTINE KEY.

You take the HELMET.

You resolve to go down the path to the RIGHT.

In a bout of FOREST CRITTER WHIMSY, you decide to put on the paper mache HELMET.

You've unlocked a NEW WAY OF SEEING.

To the right winds down a long staircase. A draft of cool air rises up the staircase, along with distant sounds of joy and laughter. Going down, you see a paw on the ground, bending around the corner -- but as you follow it you see that it bends around the next corner too, and the next. Coming to its source, you at last find...

A LONGE FRIENDE.

You could talk to the LONGE FRIENDE.

You could investigate the WINDOW. Very curious for a WINDOW to be this deep in the CELLAR.

Or you could take off your HELMET.
But you better hurry along, as there is plenty of cellar to explore. So you can only do ONE of these things.
