Changes to memberships

Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for your lovely responses, they've all be heard and felt and deeply appreciated.

A couple housekeeping notes:

I know I suggested three full video ideas that you guys seemed interested in, but Hannah, Sara and I ended up landing on an entirely new concept which I'll share here: a deep dive into how incels found American Psycho, and why the movie has been as widely misunderstood (despite its director's feminist intentions). Let me know what you think about that.

The other thing I wanted to run by you is that I'm going to be changing the currency of the membership tiers from CAD to USD - so the price will be rising a little bit. I totally understand if this affects how you are able to contribute, and if you need to cancel your membership or move down a tier, that is so fair.

Some info from Patreon about what happens once membership pricing changes:

Thank you all for bearing with me during these changes! Very excited for what's to come! And in the meantime, would love to hear your thoughts about American Psycho and what you'd like to see touched on in the video :) (if anyone's got insight on the incel world I'd love to hear it)

xx Maia

Dear Maia I'm happy to continue to contribute to your work because I am always uplifted by what you do. I have a proposal for a book with Bloomsbury that's currently in peer review and the main comment I've had from the editor is that I need to strengthen my academic voice. I have a background in journalism and the book is about popular music, so it's easy for me to lean into my writing for a general audience. It's not exactly The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs, but if I needed a role model for serious writing about a popular subject it would be yours. I'm very excited about your book and looking forward to buying it. With pleasure and gratitude, Nic Farra

I'm excited to see this one. I just saw something in passing on Bluesky (I think) about how so many Wall Street dudebros kind of idolized Bateman even though the director Mary Harron said that the role was making fun of them. This is gonna be g good one.
