Arsenal

Greetings adventurers!

Have you ever heard of a war aspect? Terrible beings that rise from the remnants of battles since fought and terrorized the already grief stricken lands around them. Bloody business they are, but something that inspired me about them was their ability to have any weapon at the ready regardless of what they came up against. That got me thinking, there had to be a way to get something like that for those martial adventurers out there that always want the right weapon for the job they’re pursuing. I thought and thought and that’s when it came to me. They could simply be incorporeal.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

First of all, I can’t believe we’ve never used the name Arsenal before. If you would have asked me prior to designing this if we had, I would have thought for sure that I would say yes, but it turns out we haven’t. The whole concept of this from the beginning was to make something that would allow higher level characters to have access to all of the weapons that they may need or want without having to carry around an entire arsenal in their pack… Instead they can just wear it on their back.

In the 5E version, one of the biggest struggles I faced was how powerful to make the drawn weapons. At very rare, you can do a few different things, but what I opted for was to lower the overall power, but change the damage type for them so that they could be overall a bit more useful in the face of resistances. Force damage, for those that don’t know, is one of the least resisted damage types in 5E.

For the PF2E version, my general challenge was just seeing how I could work in the wording to disarm multiple creatures at once without needing a free hand to do so. That was surprisingly more challenging than you would expect as there’s not much to go off of in the existing creatures there. What I ended up doing was having it work more like a trigger effect or kind of an offhand spell that can be used once per day. That felt like the most logical way to get where I wanted to go.

This is the last item of July, but later on today we’ll have our One More Thing dropping with a new creature for you to use in your campaigns. This one is pretty high level and definitely wouldn’t be kind to drop on a low level party. Heck, maybe you can use it as a recurring problem for them to flee from and eventually fight.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
