Added 2020-05-22 18:14:44 +0000 UTCJust a heads up - Starting July 1st Patreon is required to collect tax on some pledges. Namely pledges that include a reward. Each state's laws are different, so this will apply to some patrons and not others. I believe Patreon will email those that are effected by the new laws. Considering all of the new interstate tax laws now, I'm surprised they weren't forced to do it sooner.
Less than half of all patrons will be charged sales tax, and for most, the amount will be very small. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents.
