It felt really good just to do a piece of art that is mine, and connected to the novels I am writing. This is one of the key characters in my books, but one that will not be revealed for some time.
Plus. it was awesome to do a proper dire wolf character. I think I pulled off that whole dire wolf look I was going for: the meatier head, wide-set, small ears, the bigger, blocky muzzle, the small eyes. It inspires me to do a really good anthro dire of my own, to try and really capture that "other species" instead of just a meaty wolf.
Prints will be available, and those who are hunters and above ($15+) will be getting a print of this as part of your gift packages next month!

2020-01-09 16:42:29 +0000 UTCAs someone that has been to La Brea to see them, owns a few fossilized dirus teeth/bones that I prize and is in general super connected to the species I absolutely love your depictions of dire wolves, and she is stunning! Someday I want a guardian dire wolf as a tattoo :) When the sketch for this popped up I absolutely saw the ear size and muzzle proportion and squeed! <3
