Juggling multiple episode ideas!
Added 2024-02-02 19:33:30 +0000 UTCI got four pages into the script of what should probably be episode #20 of Dark Souls Dissected, but it's another very mechanics-focused discussion. I realize that's what most of my videos are, but after the last video, instead of making two videos in a row that feel kind of same-y to me I've had some other video ideas I've been wanting to make so I'll likely do one of those first.
I liked making the "Oolacile is Darkroot in the Past" video. One that didn't have "Dark Souls Dissected" in the title, but still addresses a topic that a lot of people wonder about in a slightly different format. I think it's ideal for videos that aren't as long. These spinoff videos will still get slotted into the Dark Souls Dissected playlist regardless, though.
So I switched courses last night and completed a 5 page script for one of these "other" videos. It'll address a reoccurring question about Dark Souls 1 I see asked on reddit every now and again, and I don't think anyone has made a video about it yet! And the thing I'm happiest with about the script so far is that, even for people who already know the answer, the video should still hopefully go places and provide some extra detail they never noticed or considered before. Being able to include stuff like that is always the goal if I can pull it off.
Also, I've been blown away by the reception to the Lethal Company videos. A lot of supportive comments from people who haven't even played the game but said they just enjoy hearing me talk about whatever game mechanics catch my interest. That is incredibly encouraging/ validating. I probably will make a few more Lethal Company Dissected videos as well, but it's also very important to me that I get enough Souls stuff in. Not only to reassure viewers that the channel isn't pivoting away from Souls (as if I'm even remotely close to done exploring these games), but I also just have a bunch of different Souls videos I'm eager to make.
Being in a place where I'm juggling different video ideas is great. It lets me pick the idea I'm most excited to explore next, while also letting the other ideas brew and perhaps benefit from kicking around in my head for longer.
