DeS Compare-Through Part 3, Progress Update
Added 2023-03-03 22:58:43 +0000 UTCFeeling better and back in the swing of things! The script for the Stonefang video is currently 27 pages long, so we're looking at an episode that will probably be over an hour and fifteen minutes in length.
I'm only part-way through 2-2, but these videos tend to be heavily front-loaded with content (remember how I zipped through 1-2 pretty quickly in the last video) so this means I'm almost finished. Most of what's remaining to script are just comparisons for the Flamelurker and Dragon God, so I'm expecting to have that all finished by the end of this weekend. This means next week should be dedicated to recording and editing my vocal audio.
Here's another small environmental discovery that I don't think is known by many yet; The Armor Spider boss room has an unused, out of bounds hallway attached to it:

It's lacking map data, meaning it's untextured and invisible, but what you're seeing here in the map viewer is intact collision data that is normally there in-game. This means that if you took a left in the boss room and could walk through the wall of spider webs, you'd find a brief invisible hallway that you can actually walk around in:

Gravity isn't disabled in the above screenshot, I'm not falling into the void because the hallway really is there.
This doesn't have any wild implications for the design of Stonefang, I just thought it was cool to see. Before the boss room there's a short dead end corridor with an item at the end of it, and I imagine that this cut hallway was just another iteration of that same basic idea.

I always love your compare throughs! There's some of my fave videos out there. Can't wait for the next one.
