V3.3 Patch Plans | Patreon Weekly #340

Hey Patrons! I’ve had a pretty slow week this week after the release of v3.3 (I’ve also been a bit sick =S) so I’ve not got too much to share. In this weekly I’m going to go over my immediate plans for patches to v3.3.

Firstly, as always, there’ll be some rounds of immediate bugfixes. Things are doing pretty well after a slightly rocky beta, but I have been building a list of various little issues to patch in v3.3.1. A few more notable ones caused by v3.3.0 are:

After getting those fixed, I do intent to take a look at balance, but early data shows that the new items are both doing pretty well. Some players were very worried about the cracked spyglass, but it seems to be nicely middle of the pack for trinkets right now.

The main thing I want to work on over patches though is improvements to the tester area, that will eventually set the stage for the levels you’ll see in the new quest. Currently the layout is extremely basic, essentially just a hardcoded grid with the only variance being in item and internal wall placement. I want to make a proper random level builder that can take rooms and fill them into a nice grid shape with rigid room sizes, not something that’s basically the exact same every time you see it. I should hopefully have more details to share on that next week.

But did you actually approach one? the game doesn't care if you have bees by them, it wants you to walk within a few tiles of a pylon.

I have honey bee pots by all 4 pylons.

Dm-300 appears when you approach one of the pylons. This is meant as a bit of tutorialization as it forces the player to see that they exist before beginning the fight.

Question: anyone else reporting DM-300 not appearing on floor 15? I just got a run, got to floor 15, and it never appeared. I wandered around for awhile, and nothing. Just did 5 loops, and still nothing. Can’t go down any further.
