Going Rogue | Patreon Weekly #152

Hey Patrons!

In this weekly I’m going to share some news about an upcoming steam sale, and progress on badge and buff icon improvements!

‘Going Rogue’

Firstly, I have a little exciting news that’s not related to v1.3.0. Shattered will be a part of Steam’s upcoming themed sale ‘Going Rogue: A Festival of Persistence’, which goes live a couple of hours after this weekly until May the 9th. This another featuring opportunity for Shattered, and I’ve set it to be discounted by 15% during the sale as well!

I’ve been working on improving Shattered’s store listing in prep for the sale. In particular I want to format it a bit more like other Steam listings (far too many bullet points currently), add some image and gifs to it, and expand the trailer to be more than just 30 seconds. I’ve not got the time to make the store page as good as larger game with a publishing team, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Badges

I’m also making some more incremental badge changes as part of v1.3.0. This includes additions, and various improvements to the game’s existing badges. Here are most of those changes:

I’m also planning on adding some new badges! For this update I think I’m going to focus mainly around improving the ‘killed by’ badges as a category, but I’ll see if I can squeeze in a few new challenging badges as well. In particular it might be fun to add a challenge badge for each of the game’s bosses. I wonder how many people can beat Yog with badder bosses enabled and all spawners alive…

Better Buff Icons

Lastly, I spent a bit of time this week working on fulfilling Patreon Poll #26. I’ve gone over all of the buff icons in the game and eliminated (almost) all cases of duplicates. There are still plenty of recolors, to be clear, but it should be basically impossible to have two buffs with the exact same icon now. I’ve also added icons to a couple of buffs that needed them.

Here are a few examples. On the left are featherfall and aggression (from stones of aggression), which both didn’t have icons previously. On the right are some buffs that previously had duplicate icons: adrenaline, cloak of shadows invisibility, fire imbue, and nature’s power on (old on top, new on bottom).
