v0.9.4 Becomes v1.0.0! | Patreon Weekly #115
Added 2021-08-16 15:01:03 +0000 UTCHey Patrons!
Firstly, here are the results from Patreon Poll #20:
Master Thieves’ Armband Rework: 72%
Phantom Piranhas & Tormented Spirits: 58%
Footwear of Nature Rework: 50%
Halls Enemy Improvements: 39%
A rework for the armband got strong support and is the clear winner, so that will be a focus for side content in the next update! Phantom Piranhas and Tormented spirits also got some support, so I may look to implement them sometime, at a lower priority. The other two are still things I would like to do, but I won’t prioritize them at the moment.
For the rest of this weekly, I’m going to talk about v1.0.0 and the iOS release, which are happening tomorrow!
Wait, v1.0.0!?
Yep! At the eleventh hour I have unfortunately discovered that Apple doesn’t like Shattered’s current versioning scheme. I have to change it to follow the industry standard ‘major.minor.patch’ format, Apple simply won’t accept an update with a version name like v0.9.4a. Given that, I have decided to rename this update to v1.0.0!
It would have been nicer to have planned this from the start, but the more I think about it the more I think calling this update v1.0.0 is fitting. This update is a huge milestone in Shattered’s history, with the release on iOS and new music. I do apologize that v1.0.0 ended up being an update that’s fairly light on game content, but there will still be plenty of that to come in future updates!
The update I previously talked about as v0.9.5 or v0.10.0 will now be v1.1.0, but its content hasn’t changed. I’m still planning to make some major improvements to the alchemy system.
TestFlight in Summary
With the impending release on iOS, now might be a good time to summarize how well the TestFlight did! Over the course of the entire TestFlight run the game accumulated a little over 2,000 joins, of which just about 800 played on a weekly basis. This is nothing compared to the Android numbers but is a great starting userbase that the game will hopefully grow as it goes public.
These testers were more engaged than the average Android player and seem to be quite eager to convert to buyers as well! As of writing this weekly the TestFlight users have only had an in-game notification about pre-orders for about a day, but about 150 of them have already signed up! If more than half of the weekly TestFlight players become buyers I’ll be very happy.
Ultimately it’s impossible to know how well Shattered will do on iOS, some luck will definitely be involved, but I think it’s off to a very encouraging start!
Comments
I think it's important to distinguish between complete and finished. I do feel comfortable calling Shattered a full game at this point, in that sense it's complete. I'm certainly not done making updates for it though.
