Rounding out v0.9.4 | Patreon Weekly #112
Added 2021-07-26 15:00:08 +0000 UTCHey Patrons!
I’ve busy getting v0.9.4 finished up and have a few updates as the list of changes left to be implemented keeps shrinking.
I should also mention that there will be not Patreon Livestream this week. I have decided to adjust their schedule and have them every other month for the time being. This should help deal with the reduction in participation.
Talent and Ability Balance
Most of the time last week was spent evaluating balance and implementing changes to what was added in v0.9.3. The good news is that most of the changes will be buffs! Here are some highlights:
- Endure is getting an increase to its base damage bonus, and a slight redesign/buff to the shrug it off talent.
- Shockwave is getting a boost to the shock force and striking wave talents.
- Elemental blast and its talents are getting some simple numbers buffs.
- Wild Magic is getting some talent buffs, and is being adjusted to not override wand levels, so that it doesn’t anti-synergize with arcane dust.
- Spirit Hawk is getting boosts to its base power and two of its talents.
- Shadow Clone is getting some numbers buffs, as well as a QOL tweak so that it follows the hero at high speed just like the ghost can.
Rounding out v0.9.4
I also spent some time last week on unblessed ankhs. Unfortunately, most of it was finding and fixing bugs with the inventory removal functionality. The inventory is used in all sorts of game logic, so there were lots of different edge cases to consider. Even after that there’s still a little bit of implementing left to do, but it should be more straightforward on the technical front.
I’m also still going to be making some item balance changes, but as we get closer to 0.9.4’s target release date I’m shifting my plans a little to focus almost entirely on those runestone changes. These other item adjustments absolutely will happen, but I’m shifting them to 0.9.5.
I’m also still hoping to make some tutorial changes, but these will also be incremental. Right now, the plan is to replace the current guidebook with the “Tome of Dungeon Mastery”, as a nice nod to the original tome of mastery, that was removed in v0.9.3. This informational tome will come with some pages present, and some ripped out. This way the game can ping the player at precise relevant times for some critical basic info, but more complex info will still be found incrementally as the player explores.
Right now, I think there’s a strong chance I’ll be able to get these last bits implemented and get v0.9.4 to beta late this week!
