Patreon Weekly #42 - Mar 23rd, 2020

Hey Patrons!

I released beta-5.0 Thursday last week and have been spending the remainder of the week on other work and some Patreon improvements! Most notably, we now have a Discord! You can access the discord by linking your Patreon and Discord account, more info on that is Here. 

I’m going to be spending this week doing as much improving and polishing on 0.8.0 as I can. My goal is to release it within the first week of April. Just as a reminder, the following is still planned to be done for full release:
- Spritework for ripper demons, DM-200s, and DM-300
- DM-201s (as voted for by you guys)
- Improvements to enemy and ally AI (such as fixing allies attacking immune bosses)
- Various other necessary bugfixes and tweaks, as they come up

Patreon Discord and Milestones

Shortly after this weekly goes up I’m going to implement the planned adjustments to milestone thresholds, putting them at 25/75/150/250/350/500, from 50/100/200/300/500. This gives a better pacing between milestones (100->200 was a bit of a big jump), and immediately unlocks the Patreon discord! I plan to fill in the 250, 350, and 500 milestones soon.

Just as with the Patreon itself, I plan to expand the discord based on patron feedback, so please drop in and tell me what you’d like to see! Right now it’s text chat channels only, but there’s definitely the possibility of more things there if folks want it.

Other Patreon Improvements Coming Soon 

I’m also working on two other previously mentioned improvements:

I’ve changed my mind a bit on Patron poll adjustments. Previously I was considering allowing all tiers to vote in polls, but I ran the numbers and that substantially waters down the reward for gold patrons, even if they get more voting power. Instead I’m going to go for a simpler system: gold patrons get 1x voting power, Shattered patrons get 2x voting power. Comments will still be open to everyone, of course. I apologize to anyone in the silver tier who was looking forward to having their votes counted, but silver already offers a lot of benefits, including access to the new discord!

I’m also reconsidering how I might do a livestreaming milestone, as it turns out YouTube offers the ability to host a semi-private livestream via link-sharing. This isn’t perfect, as someone can leak the link, but it will change each stream. I still really like the idea of public streams, but this also makes it possible to do private streams just for patrons! I may do a mix of public streams with games voted for by patrons, and private Q&A or programming streams just for patrons. Perhaps one public stream per week, and one private stream per month? Some form of livestreaming is likely to get featured at the $250 milestone soon, so please let me know what you’d like to see!
