Video: Acetech Alignmentor Review

We're back with another weird gear review, this time taking a look at an electronic scoring target from Acetech, the incredibly awkward to say Alignmentor. Can you even consider targets "gear" ? Hell if I know, but here it is!

Video: VFC OSW Review/Overview + Para Conversion

Here's a fun one: Inspecting the relatively new OSW, then documenting the process of converting it to a paratrooper (or 'para') FAL. While the OSW just looks like a modernized FAL at first glance, there are some pretty substantial changes under the hood.

New Year, New Work

Happy New Year to our C4 level supporters! It's been a little while since we launched this Patreon, and I think we're overdue for a temperature check: How are we doing? And following on from that, what would you like to see from us?

While we've got a couple of videos in the pipeline already, we want to hear what you want, and we fully intend to prioritize our upcoming work based on what the community finds useful. Feel free to pick as few or as many options, or leave a comment,...

Video: Unboxing Your First Airsoft GBBR

After reviewing what 'intro to GBBR' videos we've put out, I realized we've covered figuring out what to buy and general use and maintenance, but not that crucial step of first contact with a brand new replica. Well, if you're here, then this is probably all old hat to you- but maybe you have some friends it might help.

On another note: I haven't mentioned it on the channel, but in November I underwent minor heart surgery, and while the prognosis is good it has taken some time to get ba...

Compact Carbines & the VFC AKS-74U

We don’t talk much about ‘the meta’, insofar as we don’t focus on competitive optimization for airsoft. Still, it’s easy to recognize that some flavors of airsoft gun are more practical than others, and with GBBRs the constraints of realistic(ish) design also have implications on performance, longevity, and general shooting experience. Today, I want to make the case for compact carbines as ideal GBBRs.

To specify, I’m defining a ‘compact carbine’ as a GBBR replica patter...

Video: ITP Saiga-12 Bullpup + Upgrade/Replacement Parts

This has been quite an interesting experience and without a doubt one of the weirdest airsoft products we've come across. But even if the Groza-12 (Saiza? Groga?) isn't your thing, there are parts here that will definitely be relevant to any TM Saiga-12 owner.

KS-23M Conversion Kit Editable CAD File Release

14 days technically counts as "a few", right?

Sorry it took so long to get to this one, but hopefully the addition of a new patron benefit is enough to make up for it: editable CAD files of our 3D printed projects!

To explain in a bit more detail...

We make use of 3D printing for a variety of things, including upgrade and replacement parts for existing platforms, and entirely bespoke projects. When a 3D printed component or project is relevant to a video we ...

Public File Release: KS-23M Conversion Kit

Hey folks, Timebomb here. It's about time that I throw my hat into the Patreon post ring, and I'll be starting things off with an overview of one of our 3D printing projects: Bushwookie's KS-23M conversion kit for M3 and M870 style tri-shot shotguns, which we have released for free.

Knock knock.

Just to be clear at the outset here, we are NOT going to be offering printing services for these ...

Maruyama MP9 First Impressions

This one's been on our radar for quite a while as something a lot of airsofters seem to be interested in. We got our hands on one and have started our usual battery of tests.

Here are our initial impressions, in no particular order:

  • The externals of the gun are mostly plastic, but it appears to be a decent nylon as is typical for VFC/Maruyama guns. The muzzle is steel, while the bolt carrier is aluminum.

  • It's a very light gun. With just a Romeo 5 and loaded ...

Something Wicked This Way Comes

We've got a couple videos in the pipeline before this one, but we're currently working on a review of a suite of TM Saiga-12 parts courtesy of ITP. The headliner is the Groza-12 kit, a fascinating wholly fictional bullpup rendition of the Saiga.

From what we've gathered this seems like something of a passion project on the part of ITP. Effort has clearly been put into the design in order t...

Bad Gun, Great Replica

A few months ago I sold my VFC FNC. Since then I’ve been tinkering with the LR-300 project to get it up to my expected performance standards.

The LR-300 is compact even by the standards of ARs. It’s lightweight. It carries well, points naturally, and with the new pistol grip can be shouldered comfortably with the stock fully collapsed. It has a reliable stop on empty mechanism, and mag changes are some of the fastest of any rifle platform on the market. It inherits all the great thi...

Upcoming Q&A

It's time for another Q&A, so ask your questions (in the comments on this post). We'll pick some to answer in the video, and try to answer the remainder in text.

We'll be accepting Q&A submissions until Wednesday, Sep 10.

And while we're here, check this out- we managed to get a LR-300 pistol grip with the correct angle (courtesy of Collector Design Werks, who does some awesome custom gun projects), and also I snagged a real-steel aluminum-body C-More off eBay. Really roun...

Video: Building A Better VFC AR

Adjusting GBB Rocket Valves

We've covered this in a couple of videos, but now that we can make Patreon posts that are way easier to reference than a video timestamp, it's time we document rocket valve modification for power adjustment.

This modification applies to TM-style and VFC-style rocket valves, and there are two reasons to perform it:

  1. You have a fixed rocket valve and need to adjust power to get it under field limits.

  2. You have a...

Bolt Bounce and GBBRs

If you’ve spent any time working on GBB ARs or seen our reviews of the VFC or GHK systems, you’ve probably heard of ‘bolt bounce’ as a potential issue. Since we have an upcoming video on our LR-300 build- which demonstrates quite a bit of bolt bounce- it’s time we talk in a little more detail about what exactly bolt bounce is, what problems it can cause, and how to address it.

For context, while this is an issue that is also present on real-steel rifles, the c...

A VFC PPSh PSA

We've received VFC's new gas blowback PPSh with intent to review it. But not only have we run into problems on this sample, we're also seeing a lot of issues in our online communities.

Most of them are fairly straightforward issues that can be chalked up to poor QC- inconsistent use of threadlock, odd tolerancing, screws snapping (!) during disassembly- but there's one problem in particular that is a showstopper.

The takedown latch, as shown in the close-up photos, is a C...

LR-300 Build Video Coming

Yes, we've teased it in a couple of videos so far- our next release (after the LBV video) will be the custom LR-300.

This was a substantial project that combines parts from several airsoft manufacturers and real-steel as well, along with a substantial amount of DIY with both 3D printing and traditional work. We'll be going into more detail about the conversion than in the AKS-74U video because there's a lot more to cover, so stay tuned.
