I was so happy to see Anakin and Obi-Wan... then everything changed. The amount of hate that I have for Krell is already too damn high!
The squinty eyes he gave makes me not trust him, and not like him from the get go, and this episode is just the beginning, isn't it?!
Why the hell isn't he on the front lines, like seriously?! I have a sneaky suspicion that rage will be my main emotion this arc π

2023-08-18 11:10:17 +0000 UTCDuring the first part of the episode, I definitely thought it was going to be Anakin/Obi-Wan focused, but later on it was nice to see that the Clones would be the focus!! Anakin really is a good person, even after everything, there's still good in him!

2023-08-13 17:07:12 +0000 UTCThis is the first full arc in the series that is clone-focused, as opposed to the previous seasons where the clone episodes are more stand-alone episodes. I think it gives the audience a good appreciation of the way Anakin leads his battalion, if that wasn't noticed before. I also love the animation: the darkness, mist, and blaster fire makes for a great battle story, and I think it would be so cool to see something live this in live action star wars.

I need to pay more attention to the armor and helmets, it's hard to differentiate one clone from the next, though at the same time, it's hard to notice things on first watch through, so thank you! I love seeing Fives since he was part of the Domino Squad!! Also great to see other Clones, though it's harder for me to remember all their names since they show up so infrequently. I hate the way Krell thinks that Clones are just canon fodder and don't matter... it's so infuriating and I'm glad that Rex and other clones are not ok with it!!

So some background political information: After Lola killed Senator Deechi, the Senator of Umbara, to cover up that fact that she killed Onacondo Farr (Uncle Ono) in Season 2 Episode 14: Senate Murders, Umbara saw this as an attack on them from the Republic and actually seceeded from the Republic and allied with the Separatists, which eventually led to the invasion of Umbara here. As you can see it's a very dark world, like it's namesake lol I know we've seen the Phase 2 Clone Trooper Armor in the previous Droid Arc with Commander Wolffe and his Squad, but it's really noticable here. The Phase 2 Armor is admittedly less armored, but it's lighter and more breathable and you can move around alot more with it and there's alot more customizable options for it than the simple paint on the Phase 1 Armor, so you'll see alot more different designs for Clones. Captain Rex's helmet actually has a hybrid of the Phase 1 and 2 Helmets in this design which is something really unique to him. I believe the Umbarans use some sort of strength enhancing drugs which makes them seem a bit crazy. I love how crazy and Alien their ships and technology is. It's kinda like Space Vietnam with how they're being ambushed and flanked from all sides. General Krell is a Besalisk, the same species as Dexter Jetster from Attack of The Clones. And yeah, I agree with you about him lol It's so cool to see Hardcase, Jesse, and Kix, who we also saw in Season 2 Episode 10: The Deserter, when Rex got shot on Saleucami and met Cut Lequane and his family, and seeing their Phase 2 designs. And it's really cool seeing Fives again. His friendship with Rex and how he stood up for him and what Rex said to Krell is one of my favorites in the series. "Not Clones! Men!" Really looking forward to seeing your reactions to the rest of this Arc.
