Regarding the question of manga series being finished before the "Brotherhood" series: Actually, the manga series still wasn't finished while the anime series was already in production. For this reason, the mangaka made the last five monthly chapters _(roughly the material of perhaps last six of seven episodes of the "Brotherhood" series)_ being notably longer than normal chapters, while the penultimate chapter is about two times as long as a normal chapter and the very last chapter about _two and half_ times as long as a normal chapter
