This is easily my favorite piece of fiction of any medium, and it's not even close, so seeing other people experience and love it is a true joy. There was a lot in the discussion and reaction for the movie that was great, but two things that stuck out as highlights was Ben's love for Violet as a character--same, bro. Unending generosity and kindness without any pretense. She's a character that's good for the soul. The other thing was Anna hitting on what I think a lot of folks miss with the movie: that her choice to accept Gilbert's initial response was a demonstration and completing of her total arc, it's the showing that she's not dependent on him, and that the love she feels when she stays is understood and genuine and not something unhealthy and her choice was legitimately a choice. It's wonderful All the love in the world to the Kyoto Animation staff working on VE that the world lost to the arsonist. They gave the world something incredibly beautiful.
