The prime example of the butterfly effect is that the beat of a butterfly's wing could produce a tornado at the other side of the world(you know the atoms hitting against each other until something so small turns into something gigantic)

In episode 3, after the experiment succeeded and Kurisu left the lab, they tried to recreate it, Daru even stayed up all night for it, but it didn't work.
