On topic of parallels to Eren, what makes you think there is only one character that is a parallel?

Imo Lost girls is nice to watch and all, but isn't truly canon (as in written by Isayama), so they could get a little lost when talking about Annie personality and other stuff. She's too nice in this OVA, and I could only see her softening up after years of thinking (over all that's happened) while "frozen" and having to battle the eldians in paradis again. I might be wrong though.
I know Isayama gave his approval to be canon to the story, but he couldn't say "no" just because of some "details".

Hi! Question, have you thought about reacting to the SNK OST?

dude dont spoil, alluding to things happening in certain episodes or to "look forward" to _ episode makes people start to have all sorts of expectations they wouldnt have otherwise

A lot of reactors don't realize that the story the man who hung himself told to Reiner and Co. is the same story Bertholdt told to Eren and Armin in season 1, telling them where he and Reiner is from, and how they found out about the titan invasion.

That hobo guy was spitting some real facts about the world.
Same here as you Ben: This was one of my favorite written episodes, really shows a different perspective.

Absolutely loving the two hour discussion!
If there's one episode in the whole of the series where I think it would be beneficial to also read the manga, it would be this one - this episode needed to condence Reiner's backstory from almost four different manga chapters, leaving out some very enlightening details and discussions about the motives of Warriors.
If you want to do so, you could check manga chapters 95, 96 and 97 _after_ watching the next episode (as those chapters go into that partly).

It's a shame that they cut some sorely lacking Annie content, but the episode still makes sense. In the manga, they explain that their plan was for Annie and Marcel to each run half the distance to the wall, carrying the team; Annie had to run it alone with Marcel gone, which exhausted her since the distance was so far. She also used her scream to call the Pure Titans that massed on Shiganshina once the gate was broken, which Armin predicted--even in the anime!--in season one. So, a potential call back was missed with the adaptation.

I think you guys are misunderstanding some crucial information about the coordinate. Eren needs to come in contact with a titan of royal blood. He can't use the founders power just by touching Historia because she isn't a titan, what Eren meant by protecting Historia is he doesn't want the military to turn Historia into a titan.

I expect more 2 hour long discussions in the future especially in part 2 of the season 😁

About Annie waking up, I have read somewhere that in the manga, Annie in her titan form ran very quickly towards the walls carrying Reiner and Berthold in their human form to start their attack and when they reached the walls she was very exhausted so she felt asleep and after finishing their attack, Reiner and Berthold brings her into the walls as a refugeeamong them while she was still asleep

I think they should have watched lost girls ovas. It's sad that they are not even aware of the ovas.

I've seen some reactors hate reiner until this episode. The author really knows how to humanize some vile actions by characters from all sides.

The story told to Bertholdt, Annie and Reiner by the man who hung himself is repurposed and parroted to Eren by Bertholdt in season 1 episode 3 when the latter explains where they were when Maria fell. The visual of the titan peeping through the window is exactly the same in both episodes.

The reason that Annie was in the interior was that the founding titan was always passed down within the royal family. So being in the interior and tailing the kings ally’s like Kenny was the best chance to find the titan. It wasn’t till Eren transformed did she realize he’s another possibility

Have you noticed that the story told by the man who hanged himself is the same fake story that Berthold told Eren and Armin in season 1 episode 3?

Next episode has a scene at the end of the credits, it’s a must watch or you won’t understand the context of the begging of episode 5
