Omniversal Lore: The (True and False) Cycle of Existence and its Four (Five) stages
Added 2025-09-01 19:58:59 +0000 UTCHey! It's been a while since I did one of these. Should probably get to making more of them soon now that FFD is getting close to finishing. Just to prove I'm serious about my personal projects later down the road and that I am putting thought into how it's all going to turn out.
Anyways, a bit of an infodump plus reference diagram made regarding some of how multiversal and omniversal mechanics work, some minor dimensional propaganda, and why it's all set up that way.
Enjoy!

A multiverse follows a core set of themes that run through each individual universe. Think the Marvelverse. An Omniverse is the next step up, with multiverses latticed with one another at the fringes to make an infinitely more diverse and chaotic setup. Think of it as if each book had a multiverse of "what if's", then an omniverse is a Large scale Library's worth of individual books. The scale is incomparable. Zuzushi can be considered the largest cycle of them all, but due to what she is and how she operates, while she can supply "the general template" of the general system, she herself can only operate as the greatest form of "True" Beginning. Most Omniverses usually have some form of preprimordial superconcept running at their core keeping things together at its foundation. Not intentionally, it just happens. They act as a giant conceptual gravitywell for these things. Zuzushi serves this role for her Omniverse, but it is more accurate to say that her omniverse just sort of grows off of and out of her scales passively unintentionally. From a distance, her omniverse looks like a giant cloud, so the Family occasionally tease her and call her "the giant fluffy sheep dragon". Yes. A "True" factor can be considered an absolute variant of Destruction and Creation with few restrictions or conditions, if any, that can't be compared to the "false" variants which are far more restricted and conditional. The traits don't "affect" one's powers so much they influence how the individual instinctively uses and approaches using their powers. They are factors that dictate "how quickly they learn tricks doing it this way", rather than factors that dictate "what tricks they can learn" period. In Luffy's case, he's a "beginning" type in that he's always eager to experience new things, explore, and play around with what he comes across. He doesn't "make" things, but thrives with interacting with new things in new ways. The cycle happens on various levels. Worldly. Universal. Multiversal. It all depends on what "system" is being operated and on what scales they operate best at. Some are best on planetary. Others across the cosmos. Yes. They are excessive organs that aren't needed and serve little purpose by themselves. They aren't necessary for the omniverse to "maintain itself", but they are useful for "keeping other excess operations of the omniverse operating". Imagine an organ in the human body that can generate chakra while said body is also capable of magic. We wouldn't need it to live or survive in the slightest, but it is convenient to have every now and then. On top of that, some of the excess "organs" and the like do nothing but obstruct more efficient setups, if not outright degrade everything around them. Not all of these universes are a net positive. And as a result, if they don't degrade or address themselves, that's when "True" Destructive forces need to step in to clean things up before it spills out and becomes a real problem.

2025-09-03 04:10:59 +0000 UTCI think I need an ELI5 version. What is the difference between an omniverse and a multiverse? Is there a connection between Zuzushi and this cycle? I'm not sure if I understood the difference between True and False. Is something only True if the creation/destruction doesn't require input? And something is False if you need inputs to pull it off? Is there a connection between these Traits and the types of powers the characters have? Is Scabbard a False Beginning due to alchemy? Is Luffy a False Beginning due to Gear 5? And so on? Is it just a horoscope/luck thing? Does this cycle occur on a universal level? Does the recycling only start after a reality is destroyed? Is this how things like Soul Society and the Pure Land can exist? I did not really understand what you meant when you started talking about "chaff" and "fifth kidneys" and 'muck'. Does it mean that there multiple redundant 'pathways' between cycle stages that a reality can go through based on the reality's individual circumstances? And that these pathways can grow to become a 'Cancer'? Is this 'muck' the result of 'substances' that can only be destroyed by True destruction?

2025-09-03 03:49:18 +0000 UTCIssei isn't interim bc most of the related behavior to it is trauma related, not his innate habits. If anything, if things didn't go downhill for him, he would have been Beginning(Truth) instead of False.
