Update

Hey! I managed to film a Dark Souls video so editing that asap!

I made a couple of polls over on YouTube but you can't add many options or allow for more than one answer so I made a Form where you can add multiple votes to any game option here, if you would like to do that too:

https://forms.gle/zJN9jAbK1SJDijPL8

There are A LOT of games. Won't ever get through all of them but I am curious to see what people would like to see. I am conscious of the time I included Bloodborne in a poll though - it was voted last but ended up being a big channel changing series for me!

I will probably just go for what I feel like in the end but maybe pick out of a pool of what seems the most requested! Y'all are my guinea pigs for the Google Forms document :)

I wonder if making all of these polls looks a bit crazy haha. I want people to be able to have more of a say and interaction on the Channel! I definitely have the last say though 😈 An insight into my current health: This is going to sound very vague but I've had some pretty worrying things happen recently so just trying to re-evaluate what I want from the Channel and what I want to do. Its a bit of an odd time haha. Just want you all to know that you're seriously the best and knowing you support the Channel helps a whole lot.

Lemme know if you think I have missed any cool games!

See y'all soon!

at first i was like "why on earth wouldn't i want you to play silksong on release!?!?" but then i realized it's actually a really good point. i for one will not be watching any silksong content until i feel like i've seen most of the game for myself. but on the other hand, it just makes sense to start making videos for it as soon as possible for that SEO. i guess it comes down to this: if you play it on release, you'll probably have lower views at first, but more views over all after people have finished the game for themselves. if you wait, you'll miss that first rush of views you would get from jumping on it right away, but once you do play it you'll see views coming in fairly quickly. i remember that actually happened with Ross and Barry on Game Grumps when they played undertale on release. in the first episode they encouraged folks to go play the game for themselves before watching. and apparently the series wasn't doing great numbers at first, and they were pretty bummed because they really loved the game and wanted it to be successful. but then a few weeks later, all the videos start gaining a ton of traction again because it turned out people had actually taken their advice: they had played the game, finished it, and then returned to watch the series.

First and foremost you have to play games that You enjoy. And as soon as you find your interest waning in a specific game you can switch. That is the only way to keep the channel alive. It will often be more clear to your audience than yourself if something doesn't grab you anymore. Be as unprofessional as possible, because that will keep your audience interested, they do not watch a professional TV show, but your game-play.

Jurjen Stellingwerff

Just sent my answers to the poll. I became aware and a big of you & your channel from your Hollow Knight playthrough and so of course, am highly anticipating an eventual Silksong playthrough. I voted to see it asap, however I am aware that you might still harbour fears that it becomes just like GoW:Ragnarok, so I completely understand your hesitation and willingness to perhaps wait a bit. Either way, I can't wait for Silksong. As for all the other games, I think that the best move is to play whatever you feel most in tune with in the moment, as that really shines through so clearly in your videos. Your personality comes first, whatever the game may be is second. Wish you a speedy recovery and a great 2nd half of 2023 for you & the channel ! You got this Amber. Also, quick small edit. If you are looking for a puzzlegame that will really wrack your brain and force you to think way, way outside the box, i recommend Baba is You. Could be an interesting game to stream, since you could get tips from helpful viewers should you get stuck on a puzzle.

Answered. My biggest hope/wish is that if you decide to stream that would be on Youtube, I don't like Twitch that much and my tv really doesn't like it lol. But it's your decision.

sundmark67

Code Veronica was indeed originally intended to be Resident Evil 3, while Nemesis was supposed to be a spin-off. At least that's what I've heard, the information is a bit unclear. But it definitely makes a lot of sense to include it. Edit: apparently this is not actually the case. There's some background here - https://www.denofgeek.com/games/resident-evil-code-veronica-name-resident-evil-3-timeline-development-explained/

Trolez

Hope you are doing alright. Personally I would be happy to watch any video you put out, love the energy you bring.

Feel better!

Suited For Gaming

I'm a big proponent of "whatever you feel like" knowing that depending the option there is a chance I don't watch it (because either no interest or I dont want to get spoiled). This is also the reason I prefer seeing lets plays only a couple of weeks after release, so I can watch without getting spoiled. You do you though, have watched quite a few lets plays from start to finish, so I am a dedicated viewer whos retention rate is probably not as at risk as others; which probably goes for many patreon users!

van der Lark

Lot of good ideas on that list - Looking forward to seeing what you choose to play. But your health is more important, so take care of that first.

Mark Robson

Something to keep in mind, is that some of these games have streaming support. An example like Cult of the Lamb can be integrated such that your new cult followers can be ripped from chat. I think that is pretty cool. (Noticed it when looking through the form). As always, take as much time as you need. Being ill sucks and I wish you a speedy recovery. As a "keep this on your radar" suggestion, I'm currently looking forward to Viewfinder. It has Witness vibes which is a high recommendation for someone that likes environmental detail because it's an environmental puzzler.

Adam

Not sure it's your cup of tea but I would be interested to see you play The Beginner's Guide. It's by the maker of the Stanley Parable (another good game). And both of these games makes commentary on the making of computer games. As a someone from the industry it would be interesting to see your take. TBG is a short one, around 2 hours. Look after yourself. Health comes first. I'll probably enjoy whatever you do, whenever you can manage it. Edit: Hmm, it's difficult to describe what TBG is about without spoiling stuff. But I feel it has an emotional impact a bit like Outer Wilds did. Unexpected but thought provoking. It's about game development, but at the same time it's kind of a story.

Callum Rhodes

I have an amazing short game that I’ve wanted to recommend to you for a while! It’s called Call of the Sea and it’s an around >10hr long puzzle game (like Outer Wilds) that features fish (part of your fish theme). Hope you get well soon!

Oliver Quinn

Filled out the form, there's a lot of good games on there! You'll pick the right ones, i'm sure, can't wait to see you play through a couple of em. 2 games that might be fun to play through, but require some heavy brain usage to solve it all is both the La Mulana games. I'm not sure how popular it'll be in a youtube sense, but they're both really fun games with some very tough and cryptic puzzles, coupled with tough fights and fun exploration. But first of and foremost, make sure you're ok. We'll be here to watch your content later. The way this was phrased gives a bad vibe so i really hope you're doing ok at least. I hope you get better soon, from whatever it is that's ailing you

b0n3man

Just please be well, and do what feels right, we'll all be here for whatever you decide to do <3

I have three vastly different games that I really think you'd enjoy. I'm going to try and keep things vague but also give enough details to pique your interest. Also, to keep me from repeating myself, each of these games have wonderful but suitably different art styles and soundtracks that I still listen to regularly. Prey from 2017 by Arkane Studios. Not to be confused with a different game also called Prey from 2006. This is the most difficult to talk about because the game's twists and turns are mind-blowing. If you made a Venn diagram of Bioshock, Dishonoured (it's made by the same studio) and Alien, Prey would be at the centre. It's a first person horror/action game that emphasize player choice in the tools you use, how you interact with the world and its characters. It's classified as an 'immersive sim', and it has one of my all-time favourite game environments. I really don't want to say any more. Every time I try writing about interesting details, I have to give away stuff that I don't want to. I'd even recommend not looking up any trailers because some of them are way too spoilery for my taste. Hopefully the earlier comparisons will be enticing enough. If you do play and enjoy it, its stand alone DLC called Mooncrash is absolutely amazing. Again, I have to be vague, but whilst the core gameplay is similar to the base game, it adds a combination of game design ideas I had never seen before. It's completely unique. Spiritfarer by Thunder Lotus Games. This is a game I guarantee you will love. It's a 2D, indie, management/adventure game in a hand drawn cartoon style. You pilot, build and manage a boat travelling to different shores to collect resources and complete tasks, whilst also helping a wonderful cast of characters to resolve their problems and repair their relationships, so they can pass on into the afterlife. You are a farer of spirits. Filled with all sorts of fun platforming and explorative gameplay, it is beautiful, adorable and deeply moving. This game made the rather famously curmudgeonly critic Zero Punctuation cry, if that means anything to you. Also, I played the base version but now there is the Farewell Edition that bundles three different content updates into the game, so that looks like the best version to get. I realize this is on your list, so this is just an endorsement. Disco Elysium by ZA/UM. A top-down RPG where you play an amnesiac detective trying to solve a murder and piece together who you are and how you got here. The unique thing this game does is whilst something like Skyrim, lets you choose between upgrading say lock picking or archery to determine your play style, Disco Elysium has you choose between facets of your mind, personality and physical intuitions. Instead of choosing how well you swing a sword by increasing your strength, the stats you'll increase can determine how empathic or authoritative you are. How good at detecting liars or telling lies. Do you have the mental acumen to piece together details of a crime scene, or are you too weak stomached at the sight of a corpse? Can you intuit enough that the city will literally speak to you, or do you only hear the enticing whisper of narcotics? Do you feel an unspoken bond with your fellow officers, or does the thrill of disco drive your soul? And the best thing is, these stats, they are actual characters and will give you ways to interact with the world. No hyperbole, this is one of the best written things I've ever experienced in any medium. It is heartbreaking and hilarious, thought-provoking and absurd. It's one of my all-time favourite games. Edit: I missed that this was on the list too. I really hope at least one of these interest you enough to give it a look. Edit: OK, since two of my suggestions were already on the list, here are a few quick titles, all relatively short. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, The Pathless and Shadow of the Colossus. As far as your health, I really hope it's nothing too terrible and what you're going through can be overcome swiftly. You have all our support when or if you need it.

The Mighty Pipe

I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going well health-wise. I hope they get better soon! I don't even know what to pick out of that long a list. I guess it's not helpful, but I just enjoy watching you play things you enjoy. So whatever that is, I'm good with! You may as well keep the VODs, even if you put them on a secondary channel. But since you already have the footage, you may as well keep it online so if people want to watch the whole thing, they can. And people who don't, can just watch the edited version. I really don't have any preference of games for you to play (except Silksong, obviously, lol) so I say just do whatever makes you happy at the time. That said, have you seen the new game Viewfinder? It comes out on Jul 18 and should be a nice chill game with nice art and a wicked puzzle-solving gimmick. Probably could be a single-day game but idk how long it actually is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_lIQ2EZRH8 EDIT: I probably shouldn't have given you another game to add to the list, thinking about it. My bad! :D

Chris DePrisco

I hope you start to feel better and it's nothing TOO worrying. Your health definitely takes precendence over the channel, but hopefully you come to a nice balance moving forward. After recommending 80 Days on your youtube poll I've started to play it again. It's very charming and relaxing, although the travel planning and inventory management can be a little stressful. Might not make for an entertaining video (unless you do your fun voices while reading, then it would be very entertaining), but could be great for a stream with chat interaction. And on that note, full VODs please! I find Youtube to be a little easier for streaming/VODs but twitch is fine too. Whichever works better for you. Very excited to see you play some of these games, not so excited for others. But I'm sure I'll watch whatever you play as long as you're having a good time!

Flukemarm

The Portal games are a great shout!

mattbrush3pwood

Just going to throw another game out there I haven't seen suggested yet. Luigi's Mansion 3 is so good and I imagine an Amber play through of that would be hilarious. This form has reminded me how behind I am on so many games too!

mattbrush3pwood

I agree with the VOD comment

Nathan Elkin

IMO user feedback should always be considered in a context, and not taken directly. A good analogy would be a car enthusiast. They may know what they like and want from a car; However, they probably don't know all the mechanical details to achieve that. A mechanic's job isn't to take instruction directly from the customer, but to instead use their skills/knowledge to determine how best to achieve that. Love your work!

James Newman

Little extra thoughts while voting: On the Resident Evil front, I'd list Code Veronica in amongst the main numbered entries, because even though it isn't a numbered entry itself, it feels just like the 0-3 originals in terms of genre (classic Survival-Horror fixed camera style game, as opposed to the over-the-shoulder style that came after). It's easily the most underrated of the series IMO (probably because it was originally a Dreamcast exclusive, and that console just did not sell well). Btw, if you end up liking the fixed-camera survival horror style, please also consider Dino Crisis—also a capcom game in the style of Resident Evil, same gameplay and genre as the original RE games, but, well, no shock here, there are Dinosaurs instead of Zombies :P Also, I'm a *big* VOD watcher. I have never been a fan of edited streams. I feel like I'm missing out when a streamer doesn't keep their VODs around, and usually VODs from a streamer's catalogue are the first thing I look for to see if I'd like them. Nothing wrong with edited down videos, but no need to delete the VOD to boot. VOD youtube channels are my favourite feature of any streamer (especially Twitch streamers, since Twitch isn't great for VODs anyway—Twitch streamers who reupload their VODs onto a youtube VOD channel are heroes). About watching non-gaming content on the channel—I went with yes, because I would if it's something I'm interested in, but I could as easily not, depending on what it is. Hard to say without specifics. For the Other Games list at the end, have you played the original Amnesia? I ask because I see SOMA. The original Amnesia is a masterwork of horror IMO, similar quality to SOMA but a bit more primitive, being a predecessor. And if you like both of those games, the Penumbra series that preceded Amnesia is also excellent. Final suggestion, if you haven't played them, Portal 1 and Portal 2 are must-watches for me whenever someone has them on their channel :P

TeddyBearBonfire

You were not kidding about the games list. Holy crap. I think that for upcoming releases, doing streaming or edited videos as soon as possible upon release should get you more views and following. People always search for new games on twitch/YouTube when they release. For previously released games I'd say do what you want. I know you try to balance what you want vs viewership but I know your mental health and how you feel playing is most important. But I definitely look forward to whatever you plan to put out.

PassHerBy

Yes, polls are the best! Wishing you a speedy recovery 🙂

Matt Cheney

Primarily hoping you’re doing well, that’s all that matters. Still voted in all the questions but ultimately whatever you’d like to play makes the most sense to me. I’m hoping for an eventual Metroid Prime playthrough since it’s been my all time favorite until HK unseated it but also wanted to mention Returnal. I found Emmalition’s channel through yours and I know y’all are friends and her playthrough of that was a ton of fun and it’s skyrocketed up into my top all time games without a doubt, it looks and sounds amazing and the combat and movement is incredibly satisfying, especially once you get into the groove of how the game works

Brad Brown

Baldur’s Gate 3 is great for streaming. I think it would be a blast for you and Emmalition if y’all started a streaming series, maybe once a week or month y’all do a session together and experience crazy, unexpected moments in a truly expansive story. It’s amazing the game has multiplayer, and I think your personality’s would be a blast to watch in a game that constantly challenges your choices.

Nathan Elkin

Looking forward to whatever games come next on the channel! I love the polls for narrowing down options if you have a hard time picking, but definitely would enjoy watching whatever you have the most fun playing. Hoping whatever is going on health-wise is easily dealt with and not too stressful for you!

Jade Raven

Really sorry about whatever happened, I hope you get through it well and quick! But give yourself time, if you need it. About cool games, I've been trying to get your attention on a game called "Webbed", and another game called "Stray". Here are the trailers for them: https://youtu.be/PhN6IdZGEd0 https://youtu.be/u84hRUQlaio Webbed is a pretty short, chill game, and Stray is an adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. But I think you'd love both of them, as you can "get lost" in the game and its world ;)

Veldaren

That was some form! (Did I just filled a customer satisfaction form? Is there a prize ? 😂) jk, I’m happy to help/confuse you with my answers… Joke aside, so sorry you’re going through bad news, sending good vibes your way!

Enguerrand Leclerc

So many games, so little time. I'm getting flashbacks to my own evergrowing backlog! Hope you will be back in good health soon!

Trolez

Hades would be a great game to stream. There isn’t much room for back seat gaming and it has both a great story and addictive gameplay.

Nathan Elkin

ooh some good games in the poll (I really enjoyed spiritfarer when it came out) I voted for the Fromsoft Order with DS2 next up as I think from my own experience it was most rewarding seeing the changes from each game to the next in order of release

Johno3998

Wow a lot of games to choose from. I already voted but your content is always at its best when you really enjoy what you're playing so it's fine to go to whatever you feel like playing. But having some polls probably narrows down some options. Excited for that dark souls episode

Arkytior

i really hope that you recover from whatever has happened as soon as possible! it sucks to hear that you've been having a rough time :( the polls are definitely a good idea, i think. getting a gauge of what people are into is a good way to form some kind of plan which is always helpful and organises the chaos somewhat you've been doing an amazing job so if you still feel like you need more time then you absolutely deserve it, hope you feel better soon!

ChilledGricken

Biiiiiig poll! I’m excited for the future of your content!
