Urban Fantasy and Cultivation crossover tied in Public (26 each)! And a lot more wanted superhero (16). Other recommendations were also at 5, mostly wanting hints of original Earth.
Urban Fantasy looks like it is getting the nod, with open magic. Note that this doesn't necessarily mean a magical society... it means a place where magic is known and practiced and recognized, but not necessarily omnipresent (i.e. not a magitech world, which is not urban fantasy).
For flavor, I'd be shooting for something closer to the Dresden Files, just operating more openly.
As for secretive elements, that would be the 'non-obvious' magic.
You want a cultivation crossover? That's fine, I can absolutely work that in. You want some news of old Earth? I can do that too...
You want some superhero stuff? The fun thing about a magical society is that superheros fit into it without any problem whatsoever. What is a superhero but a magically powered person with a Moniker instead of a real name? A supervillain is just someone opposing the hero who generally doesn't kill innocents, and so isn't killed himself. However, a Villain is someone who DOES kill... and so in urban fantasy, is going to have crosshairs on him.
An Adventuring Fellowship with levels and Gear is basically a superhero group. If they specialize and have a gimmick unique to them, it's not all that different from intrinsic powers. Just have to skew it correctly...
Okay, this all works. Time to get the players into motion...
