I've got another new Spotify playlist for y'all: DnD Metropolis. I love a good cave / forest / village / mountain RPG adventure as much as the next guy, but I've grown increasingly fond of putting campaigns in enormous cities, and focusing most of the action within these labyrinthine streets. You might know some of the classics: Eberron's Sharn, Faerûn's Waterdeep, or Planescape's Sigil, but plenty of homebrew settings feature giant metropolis centerpieces as well.
The "atmosphere" and themes in a locale like this are likely to be pretty different from your standard fantasy fare: an increased emphasis on intrigue, mystery, noir, and gritty realism are common. As such, much of this playlist is pretty dark. Lots of exotic strings, the thudding clangs of industry, and haunting ambiences. If you prefer a more traditional fantasy city soundscape, I have that covered as well.
I've added this link to the master Spotify Playlist post, so if you haven't started digging into the rest of my catalog of painstakingly curated Spotify playlists, go dig in there!
