2025-09-14 17:27:49 +0000 UTCI agree that this is a strong episode. It does show the old idea that even "good people" can do great evil if they believe that they are justified in their actions. People who are bad in the first place find it even easier to go down that dark path. There was a quote from a Nazi (I think) that went along the lines of: "Our children will hate us for what we have done. But they will live in a safer world because of it." The only drawback in this episode for me is the meaningless gibberish the child comes out with in an attempt to sound wise. Fortunately this is rare in Stargate SG-1 (I think it is only 3 episodes that they type this nonsense,) and the science fiction writers in other series are wise to steer clear of this area as well. Babylon 5 managed to get it right once, but was very "iffy" on another occasion. Sci-Fi writers are often almost clueless when it comes to actual in-depth spiritual concepts and realities. This is almost self-evident. If they had massive spiritual depth in their lives, and were following a golden path of enlightenment, then they would be doing other things than spending their time creating science fiction "pretend stories" to entertain us. I confess to liking the pretend stories, as my bookcase will attest. :-)
