Phantom of the Opera (2004) Reaction

Comments

The Phantom of the Opera from 2004- Thank you so very much for your wonderful reaction to this beautiful musical that I love so much, Clint! I absolutely loved watching this movie again with you, my dear friend! And it means so much to me to see and hear you just gush about how much you loved this movie for its characters, actors, its costumes, its set designs, and especially its music!! I love it all too!! Is it perfect? No. But I love it all the same! :) I know that there are many mixed feelings from the people who watch this movie as well as from those who have seen and love The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, or on any other live stage. Personally, I just love both. I've seen The Phantom of the Opera live on Broadway, as well as onstage in Phoenix too. And I absolutely love watching this story live, as well as in movie musical form too! Both bring something very special to this beautiful story that I love so much! Emmy Rossum as Christine Daae is absolutely phenomenal!! Her voice is sensational and beautiful!! And she is indeed absolutely beautiful. And she was so young when she filmed this movie too. Can you believe that she was only sixteen, seventeen years old when she filmed this movie? It's crazy how phenomenal she is in this role!! So beautiful! And Gerard Butler as the Phantom... I had no idea this man could sing, least of all as fantastically as he does in this musical movie! He is absolutely fantastic!! I've loved Gerard Butler in a number of action movies. I never would have thought he could play a character in a musical. Least of all play the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, which is known for its powerful and beautiful music! What a talent Gerard Butler has for acting in any kind of role. :) And I also absolutely love Patrick Wilson as Raoul too! I love his character, and I am so grateful that Raoul is indeed a good man just like you said of him to be. Because he is a good man, and he does love Christine truly and deeply. Which shows. And Patrick Wilson plays this romantic role beautifully as well! Again... Patrick Wilson isn't an actor I ever thought could have a talent to sing, least of all for Raoul here in The Phantom of the Opera. But he too is sensational! I love the rest of this musical's main cast of characters and their actors as well! Miranda Richardson as Madame Giry, Minnie Driver as Carlotta, Ciaran Hands as Firmin, Simon Callow as Andre, Victor McGuire as Piangi, and Jennifer Elison as Meg Giry, Madame Giry's daughter. They are all remarkable throughout this movie! And while Minnie Driver is the one actress who does not actually sing herself for Carlotta in this movie, she does sing the song, titled... Learn to Be Lonely, played within the end credits. Minnie Driver just doesn't have to power behind her voice to be able to sing opera. Instead, Carlotta's singing voice is taken up by singer, Margaret Preece. As for my favorite songs throughout this musical... This is so hard to say which of them are my favorites, because I absolutely love, love, love all of the music throughout this classic musical!!! However, if I must choose a few songs that I absolutely love, love, love? Well... I love The Phantom of the Opera, first sung by Christine and the Phantom, then often reprised by other characters throughout this movie as well. I also absolutely love All I Ask of You sung by Christine and Raoul, as well as the Phantom, Masquerade sung by this movie's entire ensemble, and I absolutely love, love, love Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again sung by Christine Daae within the cemetery just before Raoul's and the Phantom's swordfight! So, so beautiful!!! These are the few songs that stand out to me slightly above the rest, but I truly do love them all!! The music throughout this movie is absolutely sensational and incredibly beautiful!! And lastly... Of course, I absolutely love this movie's costumes and set designs!! Beyond a doubt, the creators and directors of this musical went all out to make quite the production!! I especially love the costumes!! So, so, so beautiful!! :) Thank you once more for watching this beautiful and sensational musical I love so much, Clint!! I loved watching this musical again with you, and I am so, so happy you loved it too!! And now... I can't wait for you to watch the live stage production for The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall from 2011 in February!! :) Sincerely, Heidi

Heidi Elizabeth Marcum

I might be watching that next month

Mega Reacts

Adore the musical, mixed feelings about the film. My preferred version is Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall. Phenomenal cast.
