You are so right that the characters are a massive draw on a series like this. Michael Shanks shows that he has great acting talent on this one, after that "ahem" other performance as the elderly Machello. Although he was hindered by a lot of face make-up on that one. To see Daniel suffering in the padded cell like that was quite emotional by itself. When you actually care about characters you start to want to reach out and protect them and you do not want to see them hurting. This series is good on so many levels. Thank you for reminding me of this episode, which is one that I often skip past unless I am doing a full series run through.

2024-11-17 09:56:53 +0000 UTCWe can predict what's going to happen in a plot most of the time now so if a 90's show can subvert my expectations creatively, I think it definitely deserves a point. Totally didn't expect a genetically engineered parasite when I first saw it either.
