Random Value Animation Trick!

this one is so fun! we will be using random value to toss some information into the shading to make some really cool motion graphics effects

Random Value Animation Trick!

Had a lot of fun with this one. Someone complained my teams backdrop was too busy, used this one to create a smoother one. Recreated the led effect using a grid image, color ramp and a mix rgb node in the composting.

Merijn Vogel

I recreated it within blender. First created a raster in a simple paint tool, them blended that in in the blender compositor with multiply and a color ramp.

I've got a similar result in AE using fx "bad tv" and deep glow

Luca Varini

how do you get the rasterized LED look in the begining. searching for that effect for a while. didn`t found anything really appealing.

Rule #1 for artists: Encouragement is the mother's milk of creation. :-) We want to know our art makes a *difference* for folks. And yours DOES!

thank you!

if you look at the most recent tutorial i posted on youtube with the glowing wires, this effect was used to make the random wave look like data flowing through wires

wow thank you so much!! i love that

I kind of see you these days as a recipe creator. You teach these abstract effects both to teach how these nodes work "in the field" (versus in theory) and also to create these neat effects to apply to bigger works. They are effective tech demos for nodes, and that's *incredibly* useful. It really does remind me a lot of my amateur chef hobby. The nodes are the ingredients; combining them certain ways gets you certain dishes and tastes, and you're encouraged to mix, match, and experiment! When it comes to node wrangling, nobody is your equal, Duck. Thank you for sharing your discoveries with us.

Well, he's creating a material, so just apply the material to whatever it is you want covered by this effect. Text, logos, anything could work with it. It just might need some tweaking and/or some Mix Shader action, so you can have one material be glass or other transparent material, and the other be this animated glowing material. Better still, use a Displacement node and plug this material into it, so it bends around the shape of the object. The usefulness of these are like recipes - you create a specific dish with this node combo, but it's part of a larger meal.

Archibald Mirenopteryx

That’s cool and everything, but how to actually apply these effects in a real world scenario? I mean adding a brand name, a Dj Name, etc… can you make something like this with text or images? Thanks!

Sick ducky, learning so much over the last while, thanks

i really appreciate that!

Absolutely incredible work! Your breakdown of Geometry Nodes made everything so clear and engaging. It’s inspiring to see such creativity and precision. Thank you for sharing this with us! ☺️
