2024-02-28 00:16:35 +0000 UTCThe first season does have some great episodes but as a whole it isn't as good as it gets after the third season. At this point they are just building the mythology of the series by throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks, while trying to explain all the differences from the movie mythology and justify its existence as a whole. Season 2 is better at that and season 3 is when they find their stride

This episode is a great one, with a nice sci-fi concept and making use of past encounters. It is always nice to see a connected world that does not ignore what happened in the past, no matter the "one-week case" nature of a show. I rather think, mostly because Stargate is huge, the latter seasons make it not an ideal streaming choice. Its just so much to cover. Right now, this is a "good feel" endavour you have going on here — quite nice. The only thing I would criticise about an episode like this is that there was no way that the Tolans could keep their technology. It would have been better if they had embedded the technology in a way that humans would not have discovered it. After their first disappearance and specifically with the Colonel showing up, they would have lost access to their technology right away or risked an escalation, trying to take it away.
