Didn’t hate it but it’s in the dull and boring list for me. Like a chapter of a book you skim through so you get the idea and can focus on the next one. Thank you for hating this and not causing my blood pressure to skyrocket lmao

This was amazing haha, genuinely fun to watch your reaction, I love the irony from the opening rant. As for the episode? It was... Meh, it does set up important plot points, but it was mostly boring and never my favourite during a rewatch (and I LOVE B5). I always felt like there was a small rut in season 4 post Shadow War, doesn't last too long, but it's there. Thankfully, as season 4 goes on, some of my all time favourites are to come.

I kinda think this this show has fallen of a cliff for my enjoyment since the shadow war resolution. I'm sure it will pick up again and these treading water episodes serve a purpose and are maybe critical as to not rush things along too much. But they are arguably more boring, and extremely underwhelming for me personally.

I am all for the Earth civil war plot but this entire episode felt like a bad B plot to a better episode. Everything we needed to know could have been explained in a ten minute clip.

I think the end of the Shadow War was a hard left-turn which has been hard for Mega to come back from. But the Earth civil war was always my favorite plotline, so it never bothered me.

The treaty prep with GKar and Londo also is setup for an important storyline, so yeah this episode is not very invigorating plotwise. I do get the feeling that Mega is a bit disappointed about this season, he even sorted hinted in his intro that he whole season up to now is kinda meh to him, which surprises me in view of the Shadow War plotline resolution in the first few, but yeah, these mid few episodes. To reassure you, this was the last of the weaker episodes for this season, so keep the faith.

It's obviously not the best of episodes, the Ivanova Zathras scene is pretty poorly written and really not necessary at all. The Garibaldi plot indeed is setup of the storyline that is to come, so necessary, but yeah, not the best acting we see in the series.

About your rant at the beginning: Imagine for a moment that you watch Star Trek TNG, Season 1, for the first time today... The first season was a complete shit show and it took more than two seasons for TNG to take off. Same goes for DS-9. Voyager had a bit better start but was also dragging on at first. Yes, B5 has maybe a handful of lame episodes - almost all of them in season 1 and 2 - but in my opinion at least, quality-wise they're still lightyears above the weaker episodes in the Star Trek universe ;-)

I don't care about Garibaldi either in this episode. But I don't like all this Lise stuff since season 1. The problem is the informations in this episode are important further in the story arc. 🤪

Is this a good episode? It's ok. It's setting pieces in place for what's to come. Those types of episodes aren't generally the best, but they are necessary.

Love your rant on Brent and your reactions. Even in the worst episodes of B5 there is always a nugget of good stuff. As one of the B5 OGs, B5 is not perfect, but it is a fantastic story that draws you in, and even after all these years I love rewatching it.

You must have caught something from Brent, because I think this is a good episode. It sets a lot in motion. Yes, Garibaldi's not acting rationally but that's the point. And you're definitely in the minority hating Zathras. Actually, look back at past comments. You'll probably find half a dozen jokes along the lines of "I like Zathras but not Zathras" in reference to this scene.
