Meanwhile, Davina, the only one with the answer to Hayley's whereabouts, plots ways to use that to her advantage.
Elsewhere, Cami approaches Klaus with her theory on who is behind the series of murders in the French Quarter, while Lucien delivers to Elijah an unsettling warning about the war brewing among the sire lines.
After receiving a dire prophecy from Freya about the future of the Mikaelson siblings (that all three of them will die; one by friend, one by foe, and one by family), Klaus takes extreme measures to determine the validity of this potential impending threat.

About what you said regarding Klaus refusing to fight back because he wanted Hope to see her mom beating him up – that definitely could be a possible read of the scene. But the way I’ve always interpreted it is a little different. For me, Klaus stops fighting back because he knows Hayley is right, and because all that anger she’s letting out isn’t just about him. It’s partly at him, sure, but it’s also at the whole situation: the curse, being separated from Hope, the constant danger, and the feeling that they’re failing their daughter. It’s so much bigger than just their argument in that moment. And if you rewatch the scene closely, Klaus is looking directly at Hayley the entire time. He doesn’t glance at Hope until after everything happens — after she slaps him, after she yells “fight back,” after he chooses not to hit back and just lets her get it all out. Only then does he look past her and notice Hope standing behind her. So personally, I don’t think he stops because he wants Hope to see her mom beating him up. I think he stops because he feels Hayley in that moment — the hurt, the exhaustion, the desperation, and the truth in what she’s saying. That’s why he just takes it and listens instead of continuing the fight.

Before I even watched The Originals, this exact clip went viral on YouTube (I think it has a few million views now), and it’s actually what made me want to watch the show in the first place (I never really liked TVD). I still tear up every single time. What I love is that I understand both sides. Hayley was wrong for trying to leave with the pack and basically walk away from the Mikaelsons completely — yes, the excuse was Dahlia, but she did want to leave. But Klaus was also wrong. Hayley fought for that alliance to protect Hope, and he put a curse on them as a punishment. He took away the people who could’ve helped protect their daughter. It’s messy on both sides. Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin absolutely ate this scene. You can feel the complexity in their performances. Hayley’s anger isn’t just anger — it’s desperation, disappointment, and that heartbreaking “I wanted better for our daughter” frustration. And Klaus… you can literally see the moment he realizes she’s right. He stops fighting back, stops arguing, and just stands there taking it because he knows the truth of what she’s saying: both of them grew up abandoned, they’re repeating a toxic cycle, and they’re failing the one person they swore to protect. And the dagger in the heart? Hayley missing Hope walking and Hope growing up without her — her miracle baby. That’s where the sadness comes pouring out. This scene is honestly one of the best in the entire series. I cry every single time.
