Ugh. I hate, hate, hate that I am starting to feel empathy for Lemon. What has happened to me?
So, it's election day. We've finally made it. But, it's not going as planned. The day before, Levon is 22 (?) votes shy. Lemon has got everyone running around trying to make sure everyone who is registered to vote, actually votes. However, we've only got two hold outs that we know of; Tansey, who's just moved back to BlueBell (well not really, but we're all pretending), and the beer girl that George is dating.
The two men head out to try to reason with their perspective dates. George is much more successful and pretty much gets her to agree to vote right away. Wade is not so lucky. Tansey is pissed that he didn't follow up with her after she finished beauty school. Plus, she informs him, she doesn't actually live in BlueBell; she's six feet out of town. Wade does not think this is a big deal. Tansey does. So, he decides to call George and ask him to tow Tansey six feet so she can vote. She's adamantly against this.
But she and George make a deal, she'll vote, if George let's her cut his hair. After all, he'll be a walking advertisement for her around BlueBell. However, during the haircut, Wade gets impatient and hooks her trailer up to George's truck and drives them away. This causes Tansey to leave gaping holes in the side of poor George's head. Sad.
The night before, Lavon and Ruby have a debate and it does not go well. Lavon spends the whole time flirting (while trying not to flirt) with Ruby. He ends up making it sound like she might be a better mayor than he would. She wouldn't. But, it's really bad.
On the day of the elections, all of BlueBell turns out to vote. And it ends in a tie. However, George is pissed because bar girl voted for Ruby. Be gone, wench. The tie breaker consists of getting a chicken to choose one of the candidates (which is insane-but I guess better than fighting with pointy sticks which was also bandied about). While we're waiting for the chicken, Zoe shows up with Brick's absentee ballot. He voted for Lavon, so he's the winner. What if there are more absentee ballots? This seems like a premature declaration.
While this is all going on, Lemon confesses to AnnaBeth that she loves Lavon. And she decides he needs to tell him before he gets involved with Ruby (she saw the debate, like we all did). However, when she shows up to tell him, he's rushing out to tell Ruby that he likes her. Grrrr.
When he is declared the winner, they find him kissing Ruby in the middle of the street. Poor Lemon (did you ever think you'd hear me say that?) looks so heartbroken and devastated. I'm shocked at how badly I feel for her. What's happening?
Also, it seems like George and Tansey might end up being a thing. I want to claim it can't happen, but these two have been with the same girl before. Plus, it's a teeny tiny town. It's probably inevitable that people swap partners here.
