Ugh. My god. Can we please just get Stacey and Charmaine to fuck off together? Seriously. The two of them would be fast friends. I need both of them out of Mel's life ASAP.
Stacey is busy running around being a bitch. Accidentally telling Mel about the memorial they were hosting for Mark, but that she wasn't invited to. Then proceeds to remind her that her mom never liked her (or anyone that Mark brought home, as if that made it better). Mel tries to tell her they were married. She's not just some girl in his life, and Stacey brings up the fact that they were having problems and if he'd lived, they might not even still be together. Fuck this bitch. There's someone out there that wants to marry her? Really?
Charmaine wakes up with a racing heart and wakes Jack up (he finally slept on the couch) and he calls Doc. He takes some blood and tells Mel that she will need to take care of whatever it is, since he's going out to take care of someone else. She's not thrilled about it, but there is no one else to help her and Mel actually cares about her patients.
Later, at the bar, Connie marches up to her and chews her out for giving Lizzie birth control. It turns out Lizzie really is 19 (I really thought she was, like, 16 and pretending to be 19 so Mel would give her the prescription) and therefore Connie has no say in the matter, but she's still pissed. She tells Mel that might be how they do things in LA, but not here. She doesn't even wanna hear that it's better for Lizzie to not get pregnant. Sigh.
However, speaking of Connie, she does hear over the police scanner (why is she listening to a police scanner?) about Wes being missing. She tries to talk to preacher about it, but he tells her he'll come by her place after he gets off. When he gets there, she tells him that she noticed something was off right away as Christopher seemed scared of him. She recounts a story to preacher about a story from her youth where a friend's dad killed her mom and the daughter was guilty about it forever. (I'm 95% sure this is actually about Connie). And she promises to keep her mouth shut about the situation. But, thinks that Paige has done the right thing in fleeing.
Jack who is spending his time hanging out with his Marine buddies, finds a dog and decides to deliver it to Charmaine to keep her company. She's immediately acting like she, Jack, the kids, and the dog are all one big happy family. It's kind of gross the way she's throwing herself at him like this. Anyway, turns out that all that's wrong with Charmaine is low blood sugar, so Mel comes over and brings her some juice. She tells her just to keep an eye on her sugar and when it's low, have something sugary and to eat more often during the day. Of course, Charmaine can't help throwing the fact that Jack surprised her with a dog in Mel's face. Girl. He doesn't want you. Let it go.
Lizzie has decided that she likes Ricky now. (Or at least likes his easy access to booze). She shows up and invites him to a party and puts him in charge of picking her up and bringing tequila. (This does totally sound like she's using him, right?) But, apparently the party is lame so the two of them just end up drinking outside somewhere together. She tells him she sees him even if the girls at school don't and kisses him. (Is she drunk? Just realizing he's the only other young person around? Serious about him?) Later, when he tries to smuggle the rest of the tequila back into in the bar, Jack catches him and sends him home, telling him he'll deal with him tomorrow.
Before he goes home for the night, Jack stops over at Mel's. She's sitting outside trying to figure out what to do about Stacey. Jack asks if she wants to keep the ring and Mel says yes. So he tells her to keep it. By the time Mel gets back inside, Stacey is packing to go having heard Mel and Jack talking. She knows she's not getting the ring so there is no longer a reason for her to stay. She also spits some barbs at Mel about her jumping into the bed with the bartender up here in the woods and Mark hasn't even been dead a year. It's fucked up. I hope she gets hit by a bus on the way home.
And Jack goes to the bar to make a phone call before he goes to bed. He tries to call Lonergan's parents (the guy he couldn't save when he was in the service) and apologize to them, but he gets the brother who informs him that both his parents are dead, but he appreciates the call. Jack starts sobbing and hangs up the phone. Mel really needs to start slipping him some drugs. This poor man needs calm his mind.
