The Fosters 4X1: Potential Energy

Okay, so we're picking up right where we left off. Thank you.

Nick takes the gun he got out of the glove compartment and tosses it into his bag. Then, he heads into the building. While this is happening, Callie is busy crying while she's trying to answer Stef and Lena's questions about her and Brandon's relationship. It's kind of heartbreaking for all of them.

Suddenly, Mike shows up claiming that Nick's dad's warehouse has burned down and they think it's arson. He asks if Nick is there, but Lena tells him he didn't show up. But that's because he didn't bother to check in and only had eyes for getting an explanation from Mariana. The two of them are out in a courtyard (?) where she's explaining that the kiss he saw didn't look like what he thought it did. She claims Mat wanted to get back together, but she wanted to stay with Nick. She did kiss him, but it was only to say goodbye. While she's telling him this, he's circling menacingly around her and we can see that the gun is tucked into the back of his waistband.

A security guard of sorts shows up and orders them back to class. However, Mariana heads to Lena's office to tell her something was off about Nick. Then, his dad shows up (conveniently blaming Mariana for everything that's going on with Nick) and claims he's suing the school for using his warehouse to put on the play. Lena says she spoke to him about it, but he claims that was not him. They send Mariana back to class while they deal with Nick's dad.

Stef is concerned that Nick might have a weapon (they suspect he set the warehouse on fire) but he's dad swears his gun is locked up in the trunk of his car. Stef insists on seeing if for herself, but when he opens the trunk, the gun safe is empty.

They pretty much immediately lock down the school after that. But, Callie had been with Brandon telling him that moms know about the two of them and they end up having to duck into a random classroom when the code blue is called. It's a middle school class who is having a substitute that day. And the substitute is an idiot, so Brandon and Callie pretty much take over.

Each class is supposed to be sending roster lists to the office so we know that everyone is accounted for. But substitute is useless, so Brandon and Callie take care of it. Lena realizes that the two of them are okay. Jesus is in the office with Lena, and Stef saw Jude go into this classroom, but Mariana is still missing.

Turns out, she was in the bathroom when the code blue was called. And protocol tells them once the doors are shut and locked, no one gets in. She bangs on a bunch of classrooms, but no one will let her in, so she hides in the bathroom.

Eventually, the SWAT team shows up and they are fucking horrible. Stef radios Lena that they are there and are going to do a quiet evacuation. And it's awful. I was screaming at them constantly. I cannot imagine what the students who were actually there are like. Then, a shot rings out and Stef runs into the building. Apparently, this dumb ass sub decided the best course of action would be to shoot off his own gun (that he brought from home, WTF guy). The SWAT team cuffs him and the kids are escorted out.

One of the SWAT team guys grabs Stef and shortly after, she is seen leaving the building with Mariana in tow. The Fosters all huddle together in gratitude hugging each other. Mat high tails it across the courtyard to get to Mariana (that boy is so in love with her) and they hug. Nick is still missing, but the immediate threat is neutralized.

Back at home, Nick is creeping around Mariana's bedroom, like a creep. When the rest of the family gets home, Stef wants to check the house just to be sure. She does a sweep, but sees nothing out of the ordinary so they family files in. Great. So, Nick is in the house and Stef missed him or he's somewhere very nearby. Basically, what we're saying is I'm gonna be on edge for the next episode too, huh?

OMG. Right?!? You'd think I'd be smart enough after all this time to keep tissues nearby, but nope. So good though.

This episode was amazing. Hope they catch Nick before he does something to either himself or Marianna or someone else.
