The Americans 2X12: Operation Chronicle

I watched this episode and the S2 finale back to back, so hopefully, I don't get them mixed up in my mind. (Spoiler alert: I will).

Anyway, Elizabeth gets word that Jared knows about who his parents were, so she grabs him on the street using some secret KGB code phrase. He gets in the car and she informs him that things are bad and he cannot go back to his old life. But, Russia is going to take care of them. She pulls out into the street, and Larrick follows along behind.

While they are driving, she's checking her rearview a lot, but never seems to spot him. They drive to some rest stop where she tells Jared to change his clothes and ditch the old ones. Once he gets back into the car, she tells him she's taking him to the train station and when he gets to where he's going, call a number and they'll come pick him up. Then, she'll come see him in a few days.

Stan is busy trying to keep Nina safe. When they wake up in the morning, he promises that he'll do right by her. She knows how to disappear if she needs to. He'll get her a car and some money. Set her up in a big city where she can blend in and he'll come see her every other weekend. He wanders out to go buy her a car. When he returns with it, he finds Nina beaten up, along with two security guys and Arkady. He tells Stan that if can get them Echo, the two of them can ride off into the sunset together. If not, Nina will be sent back to Russia and tried and killed for treason. Then they haul her away.

Shortly after, Oleg goes to Nina and gives her a giant stack of money. He tells her she's awesome and can do whatever she wants. I'm not entirely sure what this is about, but I assume he wants to make sure she's safe when/if Stan can't produce Echo.

Meanwhile, Martha hands over a crazy amount of classified documents to Clark. She claims that they all just get left lying around the office and it was easy to just grab them. She wants Clark to put in his report how careless everyone is with the classified documents. Afterwards, she reveals to him that she knows he's got a toupee (that's a little scary) and she loves him anyway. She also tells him she wants to start trying for a baby, but Clark is resistant.

And Paige goes to the protest and had an odd conversation with the pastor. I don't know. I don't trust him. He seems suspect. I know I've been sort of down on Elizabeth for being so extra about this, but maybe she had a point. There is something a little off about this guy, right?
