Hello Deathlings!
One of the things that always surprises people when I tell them about my YouTube work, is how long it takes to make one, long-form video. I think a lot of people hear the words "You" and "Tube" and assume it's all fast, furious, and unscripted.
Which for a lot of creators it is! And some creators just make it look that way.
Sometimes when I tell folks I've been working on a video for a month, two months, even three or more sometimes, they wonder what in the heck fire am I doing with my time. WHY SO LONG? A lot of times these are also the people who assume I do everything for Ask a Mortician – from research to writing to filming to editing to graphics to managing Patreon – all by myself.
First of all, NIGHTMARE. Second, if that was the case you'd get exactly 2.73 videos a year and you'd like it.
Kidding...a little.
So I thought I'd take you through how the glimmer of an idea becomes a living breathing death video. It's like MTV's Making the Video but with a few more corpses.
Thank you all for continuing to go on this death video journey with us and shout out to those who have been here since the early days of me eating the ash cake, laptop cameras, "The Year of Content", Morbid Minutes, and Bentham's Heads – to name a few.
Onward deathlings!
Caitlin
PS -- Captions for the video coming ASAP!
Because of your generous pledge this vlog was made by Caitlin and Team Death Video just for you. We understand the occasional share with a friend, but please don't share this video widely. Thank you!
