Ugh. It is really starting to bother me that no one on this show is with the person they actually want to be with. Although why someone as awesome as Lavon would want to be someone as awful as Butter Bitch is beyond me.
So we're doing a sort of Christmas pageant. And Zoe, fed up with all things Breeland, decides to coach Rose so she'll beat Lemon's little sister Magnolia. it's kind of ridiculous and the least interesting part of the episode honestly. Zoe and Lemon battle to be victorious. Neither of their kids win. And in the end, everyone is fine with it.
Outside of that, George has decided to entrust Wade to take care of the Christmas tree for the decoration. He promises that he'll get it right. He does not want to face the wrath of Lemon. But of course, he gets it wrong. So, he and George head out to chop down a tree. Wade assures him it's fine to do this, as he knows the landowner. And he does. But he's an ex's father and hates him. The two of them end up in jail.
While in there, they end up in a fight about how George feels about Zoe (remember, Wade has a thing for her) and George insists that even though there has been some flirting between the two of them, nothing is going to come of it. He loves Lemon (bro, why?), he's always going to love Lemon, and they are going to get married and be happy. Lavon, who has come to bring them home from jail, overhears this and seems sad.
Doing this pageant with Magnolia, brings back memories of her mom for Lemon. And we get to see a bunch of flashbacks. Turns out, mom ditched the family to go be an actress. And Lemon was able to deal with that by imagining that she was living good life. But, at some point in the past, she came across an article that talked about how her mom only lived 30 miles away and was doing regional theatre. So, she totally could have come home, but chose not to.
She was super upset about this and tried to talk to George about it (but this is when he was in NY) and she ended up going to Lavon. So, she totally cheated on George with him. For whatever reason, I just assumed that they had a relationship before George, not during. Then, back in the present, she somehow gets ahold of her mom's new address and heads over there. Turns out, her mom has an entirely new family. Lemon is devastated and heads over to Lavon for comfort, but he turns her away.
It's so obvious that the two of them want to be together. So just do it. Seriously. She and George don't have any kids. They aren't even married. It would be so much better to break up now than after they spend thousands of dollars on a wedding. How can this marriage be happy if she's spending all her time trying not to be in love with Lavon?
