9-1-1 8X7: Hotshots

So Buck is busy baking all the things to distract himself from calling Tommy. Am I the only one who never cooks or bakes in an apron? It seems so practical, and yet, I never do. (And I bake a lot!)

Athena is assigned a new, young partner who is supposedly the next big thing, after she pulled a quad chasing down the kingpin of a thieving ring. He starts out pretty okay. He's attentive and asks a lot of questions, but he soon turns brash and reckless. After their first day (where I jumped on the back of a truck, climbed over top, and hopped into the front seat to pull a gun on the driver) Athena immediately says she's not working with him anymore. And she doesn't think anyone else should either. He's in this job for the power and glory.

He ends up getting reassigned (which Athena does not think fixes the problem- spoiler alert: it doesn't). When they are doing a routine traffic stop, the driver, who is claiming sovereign citizen, refuses to roll down her window and hand over her ID. Eventually, new guy loses his temper, breaks the window and tries to drag her out of the car. She's yelling that she's trying to get her ID, he yells 'taser!' and then shoots her. I thought he was yelling that she had a taser. Turns out, he was yelling that he was gonna taser her, but forgot which holster it was in and shot her instead. He was the top recruit. Should that be, like, Police 101? Anyway, Athena manages to keep the woman alive long enough for the ambulance to arrive.

Bobby is sent back down to the set of Hotshots, because Brad (like everyone else on this show) hates Gerrard and he wants Bobby back. Bobby's job is to convince him to like Gerrard because Bobby wants to stay at the 118. Gerrard immediately goes into panic mode, begging Bobby to help him as he loves this job. Bobby takes Brad out for dinner to try to convince him that Gerrard is an okay guy. But then, in a crazy turn of events, Brad ends up being an asshole to the waitress. (I really thought it was going to be 'see what happens when you're not around Bobby? I act like this. But nope, he's just a jackass). Bobby tells him he has to apologize to the waitress or have Bobby kick his ass. Somehow this endears Brad to him even more, and he's arranged to shadow Bobby at the firehouse for awhile instead. Bobby seems thrilled. Lol.

This episode was fine. There were no high highs, or low lows. Which was fine with me this episode, but I feel like I'm ready for something drastic next week.
