Ask a Mortican- Composting the Dead!

I'm so fascinated by the work Katrina Spade is doing to design and prototype how we could potentially compost our dead bodies. New technology around corpse disposal is one of my favorite things (I can guess there are a few of you who feel the same way). The bloopers for this video are numerous and epic, so look out for the Patreon-only blooper reel soon. As always, thank you for your support!

Few people seem to think of these things. When they started drinking "yesterday's coffee" on the ISS it maxed out many people's "ick" meter. Sorry, folks, but it gets ickier.

Great video, Caitlin! I think the idea of having my body composted one day is really quite beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Mmmmmm Soylent Truffles.

That's a good point! I've never thought about that before. Probably because sadly living in space and deep space exploration won't be happening in my lifetime. :(

Hi Jane! Thanks for pledging. If you go to patreon.com/thegooddeath, you should see four tabs that say "Home" "Creations" "Activity" "Patrons." You want to click the Activity button, and it will take you to a feed that has the 3 blooper/extra info videos I've made so far. Also, fun posts from other people. You can post things as well if you'd like.

I only pledged a small amt but I cannot find how to access the promised private "patreon feed" or blooper reel. Also I am old enough to be your Granny. I need this info pretty soon. Jane. 3:00 dollar donor for now. AND I plan to buy your book vie Kindle.

Great video, interesting subject. On a related topic, it's occurred to me that when humans start exploring deep space (beyond the Earth/Moon system) any spacefarers who die could not possibly be "buried at sea" (disposed thru an airlock); the water and organics in those bodies would be so precious that they would have to be harvested in some manner. Same for the feces of living crew. The ISS is now recycling urine, but the ISS is just a campout, not really living in space. I hope this might give you an idea for a future video; I'm sure there are a few sci-fi authors who have pondered these issues.
