The Vampire Diaries 3X15: All My Children

I'm honestly not entirely sure what happened at the end of this episode. Damon turned Bonnie's mom into a vampire which broke the bloodline and stopped the spell. But what happened to Esther? And Finn? They just sort of disappeared. I feel like I totally missed something. Also, is it just me, or did this all seem kind of rushed? I really thought we were going to drag out the suspense more.

Anyway, Elijah seems to realize that Elena lied to him, as he can hear her heartbeat (no idea that was a vampire thing, I've always associated it with werewolves, but I guess it's both 🤷‍♀️). She finally tells him the truth, that his mom is planning to kill all of them. He ends up jumping through the ground with her and having Rebekah watch her. If Damon and Stefan can't stop Esther in time, she's to kill her.

Esther asks Bonnie for her and her mom to help. For whatever reason they sort of feel like they have to. I don't really get why. But, I guess generally speaking, the witches the anti-vampire. She's going to use them to channel all the dead witches from the Bennett bloodline. Once they do, all the Originals will become human, making them able to be killed. (Although, they are like 4000, would they just immediately die of old age?) And Esther will kill Finn who ready to be sacrificed as he doesn't want to be a vampire anyway- making the rest of them die.

In order to try to save Elena, Damon and Stefan are trying to come up with a plan to to stop Esther. They decide to just stab one of them with the dagger figuring that they'll all die. So, Alaric stabs Kol, and they all go down except Klaus who immediately knows something is wrong. He rushes over and pulls the dagger out of Kol, and hurts Alaric in the process, but psycho nurse takes him home and well, nurses him.

Since that plan didn't work, they decide they need to sever the bloodline. Initially, they discuss killing Bonnie and/or her mom. But it's ultimately decided to turn Bonnie's mom into a vampire. The brother's flip a coin, because they know Elena will hate whoever is responsible. Stefan loses, but Damon turns her anyway. Turns out, Stefan is trying to come back. He's off human blood, and Damon can see that he's trying to be a better person, so he decides he'll play the asshole again.

Anyway, Damon turning her breaks the spell and then some of the Originals disappear, and others just leave town. Elijah leaves a really lovely note for Elena. It seems like maybe Klaus and Rebekah are going to stick around. Although, they might be heading out to try to destroy the tree. See, while Rebekah was holding Elena hostage with matches and gasoline, she caught video of the carving on the cave wall which seem to suggest that there is another white oak tree out there that could kill them. Although, this should be in Mystic Falls so they might not have to go far. I feel like this is gonna be a thing where they can't find it because the counsel somehow has it. Maybe?

Back at psycho nurse's, Alaric wakes up in the middle of the night for some aspirin. While he's in the kitchen, he stumbles across some files of the murdered people, the knife that stabbed him, and the patient files of the victims. And then psycho nurse shows up all like, you weren't supposed to see that. Bitch, you left it on the damn table. And SHOOTS HIM. WTF. I mean, maybe she's a lousy shot, or somehow a supernatural creature? This show has certainly surprised me before.
